The Chagres Challenge

By far the best one day jungle expedition in America. Takes place at the Chagres National Park, home of the jaguar, tapir and other endangered species. It is mostly pristine jungle but it is also habitated by campesinos and Embera natives. Be prepared for a wild 4x4 ride, hiking, rafting (Class II-III), dugout canoe, and more.

Chiriqui Viejo River Rafting

By the border with Costa Rica, it is a world class white water rafting river with a section for everyone. The Class IV-V section is characterized by steep drops and sharp turns flowing thorough steep walled canyons capped with jungle. The Class III section is wider and allows for more choices for negotiating fun rapids.

Panama City's nearest rafting river. Class III-IV.

San Blas Seakayaking

Visit the Kuna homeland, located in the northeast of Panama. Camping on sandy islands and exploring its surrounding on sea kayak, it provides great opportunities for snorkling in the Caribbean Ocean and learning about Kuna native culture.

WHITE WATER SEASON

While some rivers have ample water for paddling troughout the year(Chiriqui Viejo and Chagres) most rivers depend on considerable rain to maintain optimum navigation levels(Mamoni and Grande). The rainy season usually begins in June, reaching its peak in October, and then transitions back to dry season conditions in december. The best rafting season is generally from July through February.
