Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán founded in the year 1920 under the name LOMBARDI E ICAZA, grows with the international financial services center of Panama. Its founders are pioneers among those who contributed to the creation of the legal structure in our country, which has been developing in order to become the international financial center it is today.
Presently, Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán has a qualified group of lawyers, who day to day expand, enrich and renew the capacity of the firm, with studies and up to date specializations required in Panama and abroad, which have converted it into an organization with ample capacity to attend every aspect of legal counseling demanded of cities with important financial and commercial activities.

The international demand for services has required of our firm to establish affiliated offices in other international financial service centers, such as Bahamas, British Virgin Islands (BVI), Anguilla, Belize, Geneve, Lugano and Zug, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Uruguay, which has enabled it to satisfy and attend all the particular necessities required by its clients. Recently, we have signed a contract with Icaza, Corporate Services, Inc. (“ICS”) a corporation established in Miami, Florida to give personal assistance to those interested clients and prospects who require it.
The growing development of the residential tourism in our country, specifically in Boquete, Province of Chiriquí, chosen as one of the top 5 places to live in the world, has made our firm to be a pioneer in establishing offices in Boquete and David.
David, is a thriving provincial center, with a modern airport (at 1 hour in airplane from Panama City), banks, malls, movies and all the signs of an on-going development. A little further to the lush countryside lies the small town of Boquete, a closely- guarded secret of the foreigners and panamanians who discovered its countless attractions and chose to establish a business or a new home there.

The Immigration Department of ICAZA, GONZALEZ-RUIZ & ALEMAN takes care of all immigration matters that a client may have. These matters include: initial registration in the Panamanian Immigration Department, obtainment of all kinds of visas (tourist, temporary visitor, resident, investor, immigrant, retiree, etc.), acquisition of Panamanian citizenship, obtainment of personal identity cards (cédula), work permits, and other necessary documents. Currently, our law firm through Att. Ana Graciela Medina, lawyer in charge of the Migration Department has presented for discussion and evaluation the draft bill which compiles, up-dates and regulates all national regulations regarding the migration issue in our country.
Likewise, a draft bill has been presented for discussion whereby a Special System for the Promotion and Development of Residential Tourist Complexes, which will compile everything regarding the development of investment projects, regulatory norms in migration issues, etc. with the aim that the persons or companies wishing to invest in our country have incentives and benefits for the development of projects in Panama.
Our firm has had an active participation in projects such as the establishment of Call Centers, the adoption and regulations of a special law system and the establishment of a Master Developer for the Panama-Pacific Special Economic Area located at Howard Base, which reverted from the United States to the Republic of Panama in the year 1999; as well as the advising of the construction of the second Bridge over the Panama Canal to BILFINGER BERGER AG, and recently, in port and maritime issues, the advising of MANZANILLO INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL-PANAMA, S.A. (MIT) for the widening of the Manzanillo Port one of the most important Panamanian Container Ports in the Caribbean Area.
In matters of Trusts and Estate Planning, ICAZA TRUST CORPORATION, created in 1996 is a trust corporation affiliated to ICAZA, GONZALEZ-RUIZ & ALEMAN organized with the object of providing advisory to our clients in the creation of trusts, private interest foundation and advisory in matters of estate planning.
ICAZA TRUST CORPORATION (ITC has developed as such into an additional complement of the wide range of services offered by ICAZA, GONZALEZ-RUIZ & ALEMAN to their national and international clients.
