Founded in 1975, Centro Médico Paitilla has been an essential pillar in the health care development in Panama. This is a private healthcare facility of tertiary care, endowed with 300 prestigious medical practitioners of all specialties and a work force of approximately 400 employees. It was created to offer the community medical and hospital services of the highest standards and excellence. It has private and semi-private rooms (two beds per room) as well as suites.

Centro Médico Paitilla is notorious for its technological leadership and modern installations, in which stands out, the Intensive Care Unit for adults and neonates, and the Paitilla Oncology Center opened in the year 2000, that includes a group of well known and prestigious specialists in Oncology and Radioncology. This Center is one of the most completes and moderns in Latin America.

This facility is equipped with an array of the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment for hospitalizations, procedures and emergency care, such as, a hyperbaric chamber, magnetic resonance imaging machine, laparoscopies, computerized axial tomography, digital angiofluoroscopic devices to perform cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, placement of coronary bypass, etc. It must be mentioned that up to date the first two and only kidney transplants in the private sector have been successfully performed in this facility.

The quality of care provided in this facility is endorsed internationally since Centro Médico Paitilla is affiliated to internationally recognized health organizations like The Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas; The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio; and Fundación Jiménez Díaz, Madrid, Spain.

Centro Medico Paitilla has a structured “Blue Code” emergency program that consists in standardized procedures to provide immediate and effective assistance to the patient in case of cardiovascular critical situation (breath stop) in any hospital area.

In addition, it is a private training Center authorized by The American Heart Association to give courses about cardiopulmonar reanimation, basics (BLX) and advanced (ACLS), which are recognized and certified by the American Heart Association and the Reanimation Board of Panama.
