As soon as one disembarks from the International Airport N’djili (Kinshasa), the only worry that our guests have are about getting to Le Grand Hotel, Kinshasa. It is 30 km away from N’djili Airport. Located in a residential area of Kinshasa, “Le Grand Hotel Kinshasa” is near the National Palace and other transitional institution offices.

Being the 56th Intercontinental Hotel, the 6th in Africa, today it is the largest hotel with. For this reason, it was given the name of “Le Grand Hotel Kinshasa” on the 16th of May, 2000, not only for its large size and comfortable surroundings, but also for its entertainment and meetings.

From the rooms located in the tower, guests are offered wonderful views of Kinshasa, Brazaville and the Congo River. Le Grand Hotel also offers luxury and comfort, as well as such conveniences as a mini-bar, satelite TV, room service, laundry, dry cleaning and more.

An Attractive place

Le Grand Hotel Kinshasa has a complete range of services for its customers with its Salon Congo, a very large, beautiful and multi-purpose that can be used for galas, conference, official or private banquets. It has the unique ability to be transformed to fit any and every need you may have. Le Salon Congo has a capacity of around 1.000 people, has wonderful lighting and beautifully painted walls and mirrors.

There is a Business Center for customers to be in touch with the world through fax and email, and there is also a translation and typing service available. The Fitness Center “Kolongono” offers customers the opportunity to maintain their physical health through weights, massage, fitness, squash, sauna and tennis.

There is an 18-hole golf course in the surroundings of the hotel and the hotel has a modern, air-conditioned bus (with 53 sits) at your service to go to and from. In the hall of the hotel there is a shopping center that allows guests to enjoy shopping without having to travel far.

A VIP bar “le PUB” and a restaurant “Atrium” are two great meeting places. “ le PUB” is open daily from 12:00 to 2:00 AM. Apart from whiskies and different beverages, the customer can also order custom-made sandwiches. L’Atrium serves breakfast and lunches.

100% of Congolese Personnel

In 1968, an agreement was reached between the DRC (Zaire) and Intercontinental Hotels create an equal partnership. Twenty-seven years later, Intercontinental ends the contract with “ Les Grands Hotels du Congo “ (GHC) in accordance to the agreement on Nov 1971. The name being changed, Intercontinental became “ Le Grand Hotel Kinshasa,” a synonym for refinement and perfection that continues to impress its guests. With a Congolese manager, emphasis is being put on the framing (continuons training and perfecting) of the hotel staff.

Today, General Manager, Mr. MUNDABI FAL BOB, is equipping the hotel with very high standard rooms, improving the hotel’s food and treating guests with the utmost professionalism

History of les Grands Hotels du Congo (GHC)

Grands Hôtels du Congo Company was created by ordinance n°68 / 377 in 1968. Its head office was established in Kinshasa. However, it can be transfered wherever the board of directors decides.

Aim (Objective) of the Society (Company): Hotels Exploitation

The objective of the hotel is to build, organize, rent, sell and manage accessory operations directly or indirectly linked to hotels that can favor its activities.

According to the ordinance, the company was formed for the duration of 30 years renewable with the permission of the administration. It is a mixed economy company. Its social parts (shares) were competitivety liberated: 150.000 shares for DRC and 150.000 for Intercontinental Hotels Coporations, LTD.

The company is managed by a board of directors, which consists of 6 members. Three are from the Congolese government (DRC), and 3 others from Intercontinental Hotels Corporations LTD. For the time being, the President of the board of directors is chosen from the 3 representatives from DRC, and the (General Manager) delegated administrator has the power to engage the society under his own signature.

Intercontinental: 29 Years of Expatriate Management

In the opening of the Intercontinental Hotel, property of “Les Grands Hotels du Congo” company, the direction was given to Intercontinnental Hotels Corporations LTD. This agreement was reached on Oct 1971 and was said to last for 20 years, until 1991. And it was extended for 10 more years (2001). During that particular time, the hotel was managed by10 General Directors from different nationalities.

Changing names: from Intercontinental to Grand Hotel Kinshasa

On November 27,1999 Intercontinental Hotels Corporation LTD’s contract came to an end with “Les Grands Hotels du Congo” company, the owner of the hotel, as it is stipulated in the agreement of November 5, 1971. However the corporation remains co-owners as well as Les Grands Hotels du Congo (DRC).

After the board of directors’ assembly on April 26, 2000, the two parties made an important decision for the survival of the hotel. They decided to change the name of the hotel. On May 16, 2000, the Intercontinental was baptized “Grand Hotel Kinshasa” (GHK).

Presentation

Le Grand Hotel Kinshasa is 30 km away from the International Airport of N’djili. It is located in a quiet residential area in Kinshasa. It is not far from the National Palace and other transitional institutions offices and big entreprises.

Being the 56th intercontinental hotel (the 6th in Africa), it has 422 rooms today: 32 presidential suites, 12 penthouses, 16 rooms, as well as a living room, a drawing room at the reception and two non–smoking floors. The tower, built in 1986 offers wonderful views of Kinshasa, Brazzaville and the Congo River.

Luxury, comfort and a wide-range of conveniences at the GHK: mini bar, satelite TV, room service, laundry and dry cleaning.

For seminars, conferences, official and private banquets there are 7 air-conditioned rooms with capacities ranging from 500-1,200 people. Our Business Center offers guests the possibility to be connected through the Internet, fax, e-mail. There are also translation and typing services available. Fifteen minutes by foot, just in the surroundings of the hotel is an 18-hole golf course. For tours, the GHK has a modern bus with 53 sits, air conditionned for guests willing to go out. Project: Rehabilitate the Tool

After 34 years, the team that MUNDABI FAL BOB is leading, is determined to renew the hotel, primarily, the main building, which is the oldest. For that, the General Manager relies on the diffrent creditors payment of debts.

In the same way, Management is always getting higher and higher, endors the hotel with rooms of high comfort, offer a nice meal, treat the guests according to the art of cooking.

Moreover, the Grand Hotel Kinshasa does its best to maintain perfection and refinment in order to please all of our guests.
