Historical background
December 13th 2004 - Romanian aviation goes through a historic moment: Blue Air is launched, the only Romanian airline company with 100% private equity. The company was founded with the desire to create a safe, comfortable and affordable flight alternative.
It was a turning point – for the first time in Romania, a company was offering passengers cheap flights to the most important destinations in Europe.
Blue Air is the only airline company in the world being awarded the Golden Apple (Pommes D’Or) in 2009 – the Oscar for tourism excellence, from the international travel organization FIJET.
Blue Air is the market leader in Romania on the low cost segment.
Flight safety
Blue Air guarantees flight safety for customers according to domestic and international regulations and standards.
Blue Air has followed a complex certification process under European aviation law - EU-OPS.1 and PART 145, both EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) rules.
The certification process conducted under the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority coordination showed that Blue Air is qualified to perform large aircraft operation at the highest safety standards.
Blue Air has been classified as being in full compliance with the flight safety rules by SAFA (Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft).
Blue Air Team
Blue Air employs more than 820 people.
The crew is formed of 120 pilots and 190 flight attendants. Blue Air has the most experienced pilots and flight attendants in Europe.
Blue Air active pilots have over 10,000 flight hours on various types of aircrafts, performed at famous European airlines, operating successfully worldwide.
Blue Air control crew is licensed in accordance with European regulation requirements JAR-FCL 1 (Joint Aviation Requirements - Flight Crew Licensing).
Our fleet
Blue Air currently operates eleven Boeing and four SAAB 340 aircraft.
Blue Air fleet currently consists of 11 Boeing 737 modern aircrafts, of which three 737-300 series, one 737-500 series, two 737-400 series and five 737-800 series Next Generation, and four SAAB 340, with capacities between 126 and 189 seats. The 737 Next Generation airplanes are the most technically advanced of its class on the aircraft market. Aviation community financial investors constantly labeled the series as being their favorite because it's high efficiency and reduced operating costs.

Future projects
In 2010, 4 more aircrafts will join our family: 2 Boeing 737-800 and 2.
Deliveries for the following years: Blue Air has contracted Boeing for 5 Next Generation series aircrafts, two 800 series and three 900 ER series.
Fidelity program
My Blue Smart Money is a program especially created for the passengers travelling frequently and which can thus benefit of plane ticket reductions or free tickets.
Customers can enroll free to the MyBlue program. They receive a My Blue Smart Money card and fidelity points each time they travel.
For an international round-trip each passenger receives 10 points, which are turned into 10 euro deduction for future tickets.
Corporate program
‘Smart business’ is a corporate program created by Blue Air for medium and large companies. The program offers special corporate packages according to the company’s needs.
Services
Cargo
Blue Air offers for all its destinations air cargo transportation services in “airport to airport” system. Throughout this process, you will benefit by these services:
• External air cargo transportation
• Air Mail – international transportation services for documents and small packages on the European destinations operated through Blue Air flights.
• More flexibility – for shipments to European destinations operated by Blue Air, in less time. Moreover, you benefit of simplified customs procedures, following Romania’s accession to EU.
Groups
The group ticket is a Blue Air special service for those who travel in groups of at least 20 people. Using this service, a group of travelers will receive a special offer for the flights tickets.
Charter flights
Upon requests, Blue Air can offer planes for certain flight destinations.
Air ambulance
From the spring of 2009 Blue Air offers air ambulance services for passengers with special needs. Along with our partner, Hospital Services, patients benefit of comfort and spacious conditions on board. Our representatives will arrange seats removal and special stretchers’ installation approved by the FAA, with all facilities for privacy, professional equipment for monitoring and assisting vital functions, and to administer specific medications. Air Ambulance medical team includes a nurse and an emergency physician, who will accompany the patient during the entire flight. Moreover, the patient’s family and companions can travel with him on Blue Air flights.
Priority Smart Check-In
In order to avoid long queues at boarding, you can choose the Priority Smart Check-In service in Bucharest and Larnaca for 15 euro. It also includes transport in a private car to the aircraft and a voucher for coffee and water at the Snack Attack airport restaurant.
Web Check-In
Blue Air offers its customers the possibility to check-in online, using the booking ID.

AeroTaxi
This type of service is dedicated to clients that need time and route flexibility. This type of service can be provided by plane or helicopter.
Air videos and photography
This type of service provides flights for air shooting and photography of touristic attractions or production of films/videos/documentaries.
Social programs
In 2008, Blue Air was partner in the ‚Piazza di Romania’ campaign, an initiative of Romanian Foreign Affairs department. The purpose of the event was to offer both Italians and Romanians the opportunity to gather together for cultural and artistic events.
In 2009 Blue Air stood close to those affected by the earthquake in Italy and helped many families affected by the tragic event.
Blue Air is a constant sponsor for urgent medical situations when patients have to be transported by air for treatment.
Blue Air was a partner for ‘Contrapunct’ campaign, a project that supported talented children. Blue Air offered trips to Disneyland Paris for the winners of this campaign.
Blue Air is a constant sponsor for student associations that need funds or transportation.
