Introduction
IAL Nigeria Limited is an indigenous Multimodal International Logistics and Supply Chain Management Company with services covering International Freight Forwarding, International Removal & Relocation, Project Logistics in the Oil Industry, Power and Telecoms Sectors, Warehousing & Storage, Dangerous Goods Handling including Radioactive Sources & Explosives, Exhibition Logistics, and Road.
Haulage/Transportation with the Head Office located at 16 Burma Road, Apapa, Lagos and Branch Offices at Abuja, Ikeja, Port Harcourt, Bonny Island, Onne and Warri. The Company incorporated in July, 1978 and commenced operation in October of the same year.

Communication Facility and Equipment:
In order to realize our desire to ease communication with our esteemed customers’ and affiliates across the 6 continents of the world, we have linked our head office and our four branches through a Wide Area Network (WAN) directly on G-LAT Satellite main hub in Israel using a Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) C - band internet access with a 2.4 meter dish. This service offers a duplex link with 128kbps downlink and 128kbps uplink for head office and 64kbps/64kbps for various branches.
Our IT has grown from the old 15 user’s network to over 50 user network and our infrastructure has been upgraded to cope with the growth.
The company that used to have only a single Dell server which runs Active Directory, Email and Proxy has been supported with various servers and the services splitted to these servers while other concept was introduced. Below enumerate list of servers and function / services rendered by each.

Voice over IP (VoIP): This was integrated into the network to enhance smooth communication between branches. Our braches now communicated with the head office as if we are on a local intercom system.
Document Management System
The company adopted a Document Management System process that enhance creation, capturing, organization, storage, retrieval, manipulation, and controlled circulation of documents in an electronic format. This process enables us to create and manage electronic documents that can be viewed, searched, and printed from virtually any computer.
IAL Website
The company’s website was re-engineered from the old static to a more robust and dynamic site. A web tracking system hosted on an in-house server was incorporated to enable clients know the status of their shipment, thereby reposing customer’s confidence and boosting company’s image.
Enterprise Antivirus
Norton enterprise antivirus software was installed on our network for the purpose of eliminating and preventing viruses from attacking our computer system. This antivirus also covers computers in the branches and various laptops in use.
Backup Power:
A 5KVA inverter system was installed to provide backup for our various servers thereby enabling us to be up 24/7 without any downtime. Also, the branch offices have 2.4KVA inverter each backing up our mail and internet equipment.
THE IAL GENIE:
The IAL Genie is the software recently deployed to enable instant feedback on all shipment sent through the IAL network. It enables automatic generation of tracking number for all shipments handled by IAL Nigeria Limited nationwide and worldwide. With this, IAL goal of achieving on-line real time communication with the client is enhanced in a more cost/time-effective manner as the client need not bother to for feedback from us either by phone or e-mail as these shipment status are automatically generated and the IAL customer care officers tracks shipment on daily basis and forwards status to those clients who may be busy with other schedules.
