IRS Airlines limited is a privately held limited liability company incorporated on the 19th day of November 2001 to carry on the business of aviation and allied services.
The company was issued an Air Transport License in February 2002 to enable it operate as a full fledged airline while it was issued an Air operator’s certificate in March 2002 thus signifying its compliance with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Air Navigation Regulations and its capability to operate and maintain aircraft for passenger and cargo transport in Nigeria. IRS Airlines also has an AMO to carry out basic maintenance on the fleet that it operates.
It has its registered office at 10 Wharf Road, Apapa while its corporate office is located at IGI House, Wuse IV, Abuja. The company has its operational office in Lagos and full-fledged stations in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Calabar. The company has plans to commence operations to destinations within the African continent and other international destinations. It also intends to acquire the competence to provide international quality Aviation ground handling services.
The Company provides regular scheduled operations – that is, basic passenger service and charter service. IRS Airlines places a premium on value added and qualitative services along side friendly and personalized services to customers. The company also adheres strictly to regular maintenance of its aircraft as a guarantee of safety of its passengers.

The company has a four (4)-man board of directors who formulate policy and set strategic direction guidelines for the management of the company.
The board consists of three (3) non-executive directors and one (1) executive director who is the chief executive officer (CEO) and also doubles as the Chairman of the board.

Alhaji Rabiu I. Rabiu, an American trained business entrepreneur has to his credit well over 21 years practical managerial experience in active business.
He is currently, Group Executive Director, Isyaku Rabiu Group of Companies.
In addition to being Group Executive Director of the family’s conglomerate business, Alhaji Rabiu Isyaku Rabiu Jr. is a successful business entrepreneur in his own right.
He is the Chief Executive of other trading and investment companies.
The activities of these companies are wide and includes import and export trade, distributive marketing, general supplies and contracts. He is also into real estate development and the distribution of passenger vehicles.
As the Group Executive Director co-coordinating the Group’s interest in aviation business, IRS Airlines will benefit tremendously from the rich and versatile management experience Alhaji Rabiu I. Rabiu has been availing the family business.

Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu, Executive Chairman, Isyaku Rabiu and Sons Limited is a pious Islamic leader, a great scholar and an astute business man of international repute.
In addition to his Islamic education, Khalifa Rabiu also studied Islamic Law and Jurisprudence at SheikhAbdullahiSallgasSchool in Sanka, Kano.
Khalifa Rabiu has distinguished himself principally in two areas: exemplary religious life and business life. He is the recipient of many honors and awards for his immense contribution to commerce and industry.
After his education, Khalifa Sheikh Rabiu started trading in Kano in 1949 at just 21 years of age. From the first seed of effort sown in 1949, he was able to create a strategically successful position for Isyaku Rabiu and Sons limited.
In February 1952, he registered his business under the company name of Isyaku Rabiu and Sons Limited. In 1973, the company was incorporated into a limited liability company with a new name Isyaku Rabiu Group of Companies.
Isyaku Rabiu and Sons Limited has become the progenitor of the present day conglomerate consisting of 12 companies within the Isyaku Rabiu Group of companies. The group has investments in several sectors of the economy with core competence in commodity trading, manufacturing, insurance and banking.

The Management is led by Alhaji Rabiu I. Rabiu, the Chairman/Chief Executive officer.
Yemi Dada – General Manager
Yemi holds a B.Eng in Electrical/Computer engineering as well as a diploma from the LagosBusinessSchool. He also has extensive and varied experience in financial management including implementing, monitoring and auditing financial and technical systems and controls, budgetary control, financial analysis, project and company audit including due diligence, system specification and implementation and treasury management, operations experience in air traffic forecasting, aircraft fleet and schedules planning, economic and market research, corporate planning and transport investments appraisal. He was an Associate Director at Springfountain Management Consultants where he handled projects for major Nigerian aviation concerns including, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Limited (NAHCo), Skypower Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL), Nigeria Airways, and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). He was Chief Operating Officer of Nexus Aviation before joining IRS Airlines as the Special Assistant to the Chairman and was appointed General Manager in May 2006.
Capt Russel Walker – Director of Flight Operations
Capt Walker is an experienced pilot with many years of crew management experience.
Capt Walker has worked as a pilot with several airlines around the world.
As DFO, his years of crew management experience has assisted IRS in attracting and retaining quality flight personnel.
His responsibilities include crew training amongst others. This is important for IRS since our safety philosophy revolves around well trained personnel.
Patrick Achurefe – Head, Quality Assurance
Mr. Patrick Achurefe is an experienced Engineer having worked in high level positions in Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
In addition to his Engineering qualifications, he also has a Maintenance Engineers License from NCAT. He has attended so many relevant training program overseas.
Kenneth C. Wemambu – Director of Ground/CommercialOperations
Kenneth Wemambu is a Senior Flight Engineer, an examiner and a Pilots and Flight Engineers’ Systems Ground School Instructor with over 19 years of aviation experience.
He was a Contract Inspector with Civil Aviations arm of Directorate of Safety Regulations and Monitoring DSRAM for 4½ years.
During this period, in the year 2000 he trained and qualified as an ICAO/FAA Certificated Aviation Safety Inspector and Flight Operations Inspector.
David Ian Kelly – Airline Safety Officer
David holds an Airline Transport pilots license and has rating on aircrafts which include B727, B767 and F-100.
He has extensive experience in building safety culture from having worked with Air Jamaica, reputed to have the best safety record in the world.
Since inception, IRS Airlines has been blazing a trail of achievements, which has been second to none in the Nigerian airline business.
IRS Airlines has a fleet of four aircraft comprising of the following:
• Fokker F-28 1
• Fokker F-100 3
The company was appointed as the official carrier to the eight All Africa Games and was also the official carrier to the women African Nations Cup held in Nigeria in 2003.
IRS was appointed as one of the Hajj carriers for the 2004 Hajj. An assignment that was executed to the admiration of all the stakeholders involved and was commended for the performance by most of the over 15,000 pilgrims airlifted during the hajj.
From the foregoing management profile of IRS Airlines Limited, it is obvious that the company has in its employment experienced, well disciplined, resourceful and result oriented management team with a combined years of experience in excess of 80 years in the airline business.
