INTRODUCTION

Since 1991 SITEL spol.s r.o. has ranked among the foremost telecommunications companies on the Czech market. It deals in all kinds and types of assembly technology from all branches of telecommunications and data transmission with a special focus on technical know-how in digital and optical communications.

The company is not backed up by any foreign capital. Nonetheless it works in close cooperation with a number of top telecommunication companies of the world renown.

The company's success is based on a body of highly qualified workers (the company currently has around 400 employees), working in the telecommunications section in technical development, assembly, and other related fields. Our staff has many years of experience in the field of setting up optical transmission routes, as the beginnings of investment construction in the telecommunication networks of the Czech and Slovak Republics ran more or less concurrently with those in other developed countries. All the same, SITEL lays great stress on the ongoing refinement of its staff expertise. They broaden their experience at specialist seminars and training courses both at home and abroad, which are then completed with the certificated final examinations.

To maintain competitiveness and the quality of the services provided, the company also runs a targetted equipment modernization programme and sees to the ongoing refinement of the organization of all the activities. Conditions are currently being created for the transition of the organization to a new method of quality control of technical procedures under ISO 9000 norms. Takings are ploughed back into the renewal of measuring and installation equipment including means of transport and mechanization.

It is for these reasons that SITEL has a great lead in quality over its comptitors. It is much sought after for its investment construction and it can deliver what are relatively very extensive orders.

On the basis of its professional competence, the company was granted a licence by the Ministry of Telecommunications, authorizing it to carry out work on the UTN (Uniform Telecommunications Network) and interfaces connected to it. This means it is now able to carry out replacement of connecting cables, the construction of telephone exchanges, transmission systems etc.

One of the indisputable advantages of the company is particularly its ability to react immediately to the operational needs of the customer, and another is the great operational flexibility when implementing an investment programme including the not inconsiderable factor of the maximum personal initiative of its staff, who have a direct personal financial interest in th equality of the work being carried out and in keeping to deadlines.

SITEL can boast very decent references in all the areas of activity which it offers. The most significant customers include SPT TELECOM, KABEL PLUS, Ceske energeticke zavody, Prazska energetika, Slovnaft a.s.,Slovtranzgaz a.s., Vychodoslovenske energeticke zavody a.s., Zapadoslovenske energeticke zavody a.s., TRANZGAZ, PHILIPS, Alcatel, NOKIA, Komercni banka, Konsolidacni banka, Ceska sporitelna, Ceska televize, the Economics Ministry, Air-Traffic Control, and Prague City Municipal Authorities.

The company operates throughout the entire territory of the Czech Republic. In the city of Prague it has a twenty-four-hour long-distance service, ready to take on any requirement from a customer or from operations so that the requirement is dealt with within the appropriate response time. As well as the original centre of operations in Prague, regional centres have been set up in Brno, Decin, Plzen, and Tabor to facilitate more flexible relations with business partners. Detached centres have also been set up for operational reasons in selected regional towns. For activities in the Slovak Republic a SITEL daughter company has been set up with head offices in Kosice and Bratislava.

SITEL, with its range of services that is far broader than there has been space to set forth here, is continually coming up with technical innovations in its collaborations with leading producers in the field, with the aim of providing highly professional comprehensive services to even the most demanding of customers.

OPTICS AND TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS

The equipment and experience of the workers in the fields of optical technology and transmission routes is the pride of the company. SITEL is authorized to carry out work on optical transmission routes into the Uniform Telecommunications Network. The appropriate standard that is required of the technology and procedures used in satisfying the high demands of SPT TELECOM is a guarantee of the exceptional quality that even goes into local optical networks.

We offer comprehensive provision of installation work connected with optical cables, including servicing. We provide the laying, hanging, and placing of optical cables into cable ducts and HDPE tubes (which we also lay and connect), we carry out the installation of optical cable couplings, we connect multi-mode and single-mode fibres by welding and with the aid of mechanical joints, we fit optical joints on site within optical data networks, we install all kinds of optical distribution frames, we offer the comprehensive testing and final checking measurements (the measurement of power loss and inhomogeneity in optical fibres).

In the field of transmission systems with metallic and optical cables we provide services in five basic areas:

  • Consultation services

  • Supply of modern techniques and technology

  • Installation of transmission systems

  • The comprehensive provision of ready-for-use telecommunications systems

  • Servicing

  • CONSULTATION SERVICES

Especially for customers with private networks, SITEL carries out consultation and pre-project work aimed at the optimum solution to telecommunication network construction problems. It implements tender proceeding for the delivery of transmissions systems and it submits a proposal on the optimum mode of operation, maintenance and the updating of existing telecommunications networks.

Within the framework of this activity, our members of staff are ready to arrange negotiations with suppliers of transmissions equipment, and to buy, store and transport this equipment.

We also offer training in the running of equipment put in place by SITEL.

SUPPLLY OF MODERN TECHNIQUES AND TECHNOLOGY

On the basis of our professional experience, our long-term pursuit of the latest techniques and technology and the commercial contacts that we have built up, we are able to provide a wide range of modern telecommunications equipment: PDH, SDH and SHSL systems, Frame Relay Technology, ATM and optical transmission technology on 850, 1310, and 1550 nm wavelengths from the leading world producers At&T, Alcatel, Phillips, Ericsson, Marconi, Nokia.and from
    Czech manufacturers TTC, TTC Marconi.

    INSTALLATION OF DIGITAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS

SITEL can arrange for the complete construction of digital transmission systems including the preparation of the transmission medium (selection of cable pairs, cable work), the construction of the line transmission systems (installation of containers , mounting of continuous repeaters, debugging and setting) fitting, adjustment and inspection work on the final equipment. It also currently provides for the installation of link-up equipment with primary or flexible muldexes and cross-connect equipment at a level of 1-0 (2Mbit/s-64kbit/s) or higher. Again on these pieces of equipment, the company not only carries out installation, but also adjustment and inspection.

    PROVISION OF READY-FOR-USE TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS

SITEL provides for the comprehensive delivery of telecommunications networks including the work connected with the preparation of the construction (pre-project and project work) and the implementation of the telecommunications network construction itself (supply and installation of transmission equipment including quality-inspection management and trial running).

    SERVICING

On the basis of a contract with the operator of the telecommunications network, SITEL provides for the normal maintenance of the transmission systems. This work involves intervention during fault isolation and equipment repairs, periodic checking and prophylactic measurement. The company is able, on the basis of a special agreement, to take over all the servicing activity including the provision of repairs for defective parts.

    COMPUTER NETWORKS

A considerable amount of SITEL's work involves all-inclusive installation and project activity with data networks from LANs to WANs and ISDNs and the like.

"Structured cabling system" is these days becoming a synonym for "computer network". It involves a network of cables and component parts based on hierarchical design, which meets all communications requirements and can easily be altered, if entry points are moved, or their number is increased, or new communications technology is put in.
Structured cabling is universally intended for the transmission of all kinds of data (telephone, data, sound, images etc.).

To summarize the advantages of structured cabling:

    Without time restriction

the life-expectancy of cabling is 15 to 20 years and its parameters permit changes in transmission protocals and even make allowance for new kinds of computer technology with higher transmission speeds (100Mb/s) etc. The return on costs for the network is expected to be around 1,5 to 2 years.

    High flexibility

which allows for changes to the network topology during organizational changes to a business, office moving, moving workers or other changes in the network.

    Universality

the same technical devices for connecting different pieces of equipment

The basic transmission medium is category 3 or 5 double twisted pair cables, shielded (STP, FTP) or unshielded (STP). Category 5, which is used at present, allows for a transmission speed of up to 155 Mb/s. Optical cables with 62,5/125 (50/125) µm fibres are normally used for private backbone networks.

In collaboration with AT&T, SITEL offers a universal distribution system - SYSTIMAX-SCS - which provides the highest security and guarantees from the user's point of view, i.e. a fifteen-year guarantee on components and a system directly guaranteed by AT&T. All components are developed and harmonized at AT&T's Bell Laboratories in operations certified by ISO 9001 quality standards. AT&T also develops and operates equipment that uses these networks. The dominant standing of this company in the development of this technology is in assurance that this system is not going to become outdated, technically and otherwise. None of the components use category 5 to its limits; in fact, they allow for a high margin of reserve. Certification is carried out directly by AT&T representatives.

It is not only high quality private data networks that are of importance to the customer but also the high quality of the final-user hardware and software. To provide for really first-class ready-for-use supplies for data networks, we work together with other important companies operating on the Czech market.
