THE SIMPLE PATH INTO THE DEPTH OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS

INTRODUCTION

STROM telecom s.r.o. is a Czech telecommunication company which forms the major site of activity for a group of European companies, mutually bonded by function and capital.

The more than 100 employees are currently busy on two locations: Doubravice, in the eastern part of Prague (management, administration and development) and Votice (production preparation).

The company's logo is a beautiful maple tree, over three hundred years old and located on top of a hill above Votice.

PRODUCTION PROGRAM

STROM telecom is founded on the idea of integrating knowledge attained in the areas of telecommunications and computer technology into new products and systems, both of which benefit from the strength of the individual fields. The company believes in the use of state-of-the-art technology to increase efficiency, functionality and reliability of existing public and private telecommunication system, as well as the introduction of entirely new products and services.

The production program of STROM telecom could be divided into two basic families of products: MEDIO and TELESIS.

MEDIO Product Family

The MEDIO digital switching system a universal design intended for telecommunication operators. Its open and modular architecture ensures a total adherence to the current requirements in this area.

Simple, modular hardware and object-oriented software allows the system to be used for multiple applications: automatic distribution of calls, a home/public/transit telephone exchange, signalling converter, etc.

The modular conception provides for an easy enhancement of capacity as well as cost optimization when configuring the system for a desired application; thus a customer can choose to purchase only the necessary parts, rather than a setup determined by a fixed system configuration.

Internal signaling between individual system modules is achieved through fiberoptics which, besides reducing the amount of connecting cables also increase the level of electromagnetic compatibility.

The system modules are developed on the basis of state-of-the-art components, constructed by the world's leading manufacturers. The organization of the fully-automated production process corresponds to the ISDO9001 standard, ensuring a high level of reliability as well as long-term applicability of the system and its individual functions.

The MEDIO system software is modeled upon real-time systems, the primary goal being the creation of a reliable system while maintaining a maximum level of simplicity. The use of modern programming techniques enables realization of different applications within the basic structure of programming modules.

Application of the MEDIO system: Local Office

Transit Office
Local/Transit Office
Private Branch Exchange
Automatic Call Distribution System
Signalling Converter

TELESIS Product Family

The TELESIS integration information system is a complex assemblage founded on flexible, object-oriented software. It is intended for public companies dedicated to providing telecommunication services. The system is developed according to the ITU - T recommendations, while the subsystems are responsible for all the major functions pertaining to management of telecommunications networks (TMN): Fault
Management

Accounting Management
Configuration Management
Performance Management
Security Management

A description of individual products that comprises TELESIS can be founded in separate brochures.

The ATT Plus system is dedicated to detailed monitoring of information concerning the outgoing telephone traffic in electromechanical and digital telephone exchanges, creating a complete report on every conversation (toll - ticketing: who spoke to whom, at what time and for how long). It allows for a centralized, real-time data collection from a number of telephone exchanges within a region, while a dedicated part of the system is intended for technical supervision of an exchange.
The TPC Plus system is responsible for registration of outgoing calls over a limited number of telephone of telephone subscribers; it is realized in a way which allows for an easy reinstallation from one group of subscribers to another (a portable system).

TelBil is a software package used for flexible invoicing of all forms of telecommunications services. Based on object-oriented programming techniques, the software is also applicable in a modular fashion within telecommunications networks of various capacities, from classic to mobile-phone operators. It provides a means for flexible invoicing, formation of an invoice in real time, creating an integrated invoice for a number of different services etc.

TCCS (Telesis Customer Care System) is closely connected to the billing systems and allows for automatization of work involving a variety of different requests by the users of telecommunications services. In the outgoing competition for clients (to retain the existing users and acquire new customers), the operators are pushed to steadily increase the quality and the quantity of rendered services. An efficient and fast means of contacting the user is necessary to ensure the quality of a service; TCCS comprises a wide spectrum of developed interfaces for the aforementioned support.

TelCharge is a system for determining the value of telecommunications services. It is composed of two components, one of which collects information on services while the other performs a taxation on every individual service. TelCharge reduces the workload on billing system by liberating it from massive data processing tasks.

TelInfo is a program package intended for information service. It provides a fast and efficient means of searching the telecommunications customer database, as well as the generation of a phone book on CD-ROM or Internet.

TelRes is a system showing the resources available within telecommunications networks. It includes a graphical display of network elements.

TFM (Telesis Fault Management) is a system created to support fault management tasks. An integral part of the assemblage is the automated measurement of electrical parameters on customer lines.

TePOS (Point of Sale) is an automated place for customer support/contacts performed by the telecommunications service operators. It represents an avoidable system element for customer care. It provides support for sales of products, receipt of payment, complaints, requests etc. Installed within TelPOS is APPS - computer controlled cabin agent.

COMPANY STRUCTURE

The company is composed of a main decision center and five departments:
Technical Management
Sales Management
Production Management
Administrative Management
Services Support Management
The company operates in accord with the ISO 9000 norm, specifically ISO 9001/4.

MAIN WORKING ELEMENTS
