“I am really happy that number of corruption has decreased”

Madneuli has a very long history. It is located in Bolnisi, Kvemo Kartli. In 40s they started to have geological expeditions in this region. Before they started to have a factory it was already decided to get “Madani” and that why it is called Madneuli. So, the factory has been working already for 30 years.

How is your factory functioning?

Madneuli is the group of companies which unites couple companies. First of all it is company Madneuli, other one Kvartsiti that is manufacturing gold. The final version of gold is doer. The other company is Ecology Company. It is a very big process to get the final product. Another company is Transportation Company that is delivering the products within factors. Every company has its manager, financial director, public relations specialist and administrative manager. This is the council of directors. 97% of the company belongs to the Russian company.

What is the direction that Madneuli is following?

For us most important is to develop this business. It is very important fact that Madneuli has licenses. There is couple more places around this area that we need to work on. Our main goal is to find our more sources.

What has been main change after privation of the organization in 2005?

Privatization has changed a lot, especially in administration field. It is easier to make decisions in private company rather in governmental. New owner of this company is more concentrated on development of company. Nowadays it’s easier for us to find partners and funding sources.

Where are you trying to find your partners and what is your strategy?

Main partners are German companies. Our strategy is to let them know that these kinds of places are in Georgia. We are very actively working in the region of Caucasian these are Armenia, Azerbaijan. We understand that the amount of product that we have right now does not allow us to bring the product in foreign markets. The interest of foreign investors has strongly increased especially on gold.

Do you have any other similar companies in Georgia?

No, in Georgia we are the only ones. But as for Armenia and Azerbaijan there are five of them in each region. We might look small company but the experience in management of the company makes the company to work.

How can your company take an advantage of Georgian- American good relationship and how the company can benefit out of it?

I am welcoming the Georgian American relation and I am very happy that United States is our strategic partner. Gold infrastructure is well developed in Canada and America and their companies are high developed and they have high technology. They also have good experience in management. Of course there is a possibility to have good partners in United States. We might also have technological partnership with America. We are always open for new partners.

How do you see Georgia in the next year? What is the future of Georgia? How you can connect it with your company?

According to the economical growth to Georgia we have a big hope for development. Tax code is more flexible and it is easier to collaborate with them. Taxes have also decreased. We have never been under the pressure of government officials anymore and I am really happy that number of corruption has decreased in the county.

How did you become a businessman? What is your background?

I have graduated from Tbilisi State University in 1993. After that I moved to Russia. I was invited back to Georgia to work in Madneuli after the Rose Revolution. I believe that economical reforms are weigh more ahead in Russia. I don’t mean economic date, because economic date in Russia is depended on oil. As for economic reforms, I can not even compare it with Russian reforms. I am visiting neighbor countries quite often and I am really happy that I am working in Georgia.

What has been your biggest achievement?

I believe biggest achievement is that I got to come back to Georgia and work here and the situation is weigh better than I expected. When the government is supporting the country you can achieve a lot.
