A LAND OF OPPORTUNITIES WAITING TO BE UNVEILED

The Dominican Republic has taken off and is poised for continuing development and nothing -not even worldwide recessions- is going to stop it. It has put endless effort into studying its own resources and competitive advantages to profit as much as possible by opening up to international trade. It is no coincidence the Dominican Republic has maintained such vigorous growth over the years. It is a nation set on improving its quality of life one way or another and to do that it has diversified its economy and injected each sector with enough assets to be able to attract foreign capital on its own.

Once a fiefdom of a few oligarchic families in the past, the Dominican Republic has dramatically transformed itself into an open economy, ever more interactive with the globalization tendencies of world commerce (trade, investment and tourism). An independent business sector, aided by a deregulating and "investor-friendly" government attitude that has prevailed throughout successive cabinets, has transformed in record time what was once one of the most backward countries of Latin America into the fastest growing economy of the continent. Due to its high standards of competitiveness and successful development in all sectors of the economy (agriculture, industry and services), it is no surprise that this island has been labeled the Caribbean Taiwan.
What Christopher Columbus once called "the most beautiful land human eyes could see" becomes once more in a new globalized world, a land full of opportunities ready and waiting for new endeavors. Some companies have already started to take advantage of the favorable conditions in the Dominican Republic, but there is still a vast, untouched and promising business territory awaiting to be unveiled.
