The "Thalaso Spa by La Prairie" in the Byblos Hotel was inaugurated in 1986 and was the first one of its kind in Spain. It was named after the famous French cyclist Louison Bobet, three times winner of the tour of France. He discovered the benefit of sea water cures while he was recovering from a serious car accident

It has been scientifically proved that Thalassotherapy cures improve the recuperation of energy while help to restrain the ageing process of our body, treating diseases such as decalcification and osteoporosis. There are many applications of Thalassotherapy to sports and health, the effects of the treatments of rheumatic aliments, posttraumatic sequels, muscle ashes, distress, weight gain or cellulite are remarkable. The effects of hydrotherapy are greatly increased by algotherapy, algae have property of concentrating in them over 500 times the essential elements for life that the ocean contains.

It has three indoor seawater pools, as well as several cabins for treatments, dressing rooms, a sauna, rehabilitation areas, a gymnasium and a “tisaneria”. Creating a fresh atmosphere as in ancient Rome baths.

The aim of the Thalassotherapy is to supply the organism with elements contained in great quantities in sea water, as iodine, sulphur, calcium and magnesium, through the skin all these components penetrate the skin when temperature of the water reaches the temperature of the body, that is, 37 grades centigrade.

A new beauty centre with exclusive products and techniques by La Prairie was inaugurated in august 1996, as a complementary to the Louison Bobet Thalassotherapy centre. The rooms have been carefully decorated in order to create a totally relaxing and comfortable atmosphere for the clients. The centre offers a series of treatments that dramatically delay the ageing process of the skin. The beauty centre also offers additional services.

Hotel Byblos Andaluz has the 36 holes of the best courses of the Costa del Sol. The building is surrounded by two 18-hole international class golf courses, “Los Lagos” and “Los Olivos”. Both were designed by the famous Robert Trent Jones.
