" Communications for the Future "

Where we came from

…Celltel Limited was incorporated in 1993 and became operational in March 1995 with its vision of being the leading provider of total telecommunication solutions in Ghana and eventually throughout Africa. Celltel currently operates on an Advanced Mobile Phones System (AMPS) and it’s the second cellular company to be established in Ghana.

Where we are

… It is the company’s objective to allow its valuable customers to communicate easily, effectively and at an affordable price. To achieve this objective, Celltel went into joint-venture with Hutchison Telecom International Limited, a division of a Hong Kong-based conglomerate called Hutchison Whampoa Limited, which has interest in telecommunication, property development, port and related services, retail and manufacturing and other infrastructure projects.

Where we are going

… With its humble beginning of three cell sites, which were built with the support of AT&T, Celltel is now embarking on a massive expansion programme to provide coverage and capacity over the entire country by the year 2003. Our engineers are working around the clock to bring this vision to fruition.

Celltel is committed to satisfying its customers through the provision of technologically superior services and products, while maintaining a close eye on the ethical conduct of business social sensitivities of the community in which we operate. Our goal is to become the best in the telecommunication industry, to secure a leading share of telecommunication business nation-wide and with a significant presence in all major sub-region market.

What to expect

… Celltel Limited offers cellular telephone service, fax for domestics and international connection. Celltel is introducing Value Added Services such as prepaid, voice-mail, data transmission , ISDN, internet and other wide band services.
Our commitment

… Celltel has qualified and efficient professionals who are committed to providing total solutions to our customers. Our professionals have amply demonstrated this commitment through the services they have so far provided to our customers.

Celltel Limited boasts of its professionals in all aspects of its operations. These professionals are very responsive to the needs of our customers. Our customers’ expectations have always been met and satisfactory results have been achieved. We value our customer and will not forget you after a sale ! ! !

Entering into the new millennium

As Celltel marches into the next millennium with determination to dominate the market, Hutchison'’ Group Managing Director, Khoo Chek Ngee, declared last year in Accra that he was elated about the company’s investment in Celltel in particular and in Ghana in general, saying it is Hutchison’s first investment in Africa. "It is a unique investment, small and far away, but as a move into the African continent, it is a big step for the group", the Hutchison Group MD observed.

Celltel sees the joint venture deal as a good move that will catapult it into a major telecommunications player in the industry.

With the competition in the telecoms industry becoming keen and stiff, Celltel hopes to emerge tops in the improvement of cellular phone service delivery in Ghana.

With the strong muscles from its international associate, Celltel is to provide affordable, and formidable cellular phone service delivery in Ghana.
