Social Security & Housing Finance Corporation was established by an Act of Parliament in 1981 with the mandate to provide social protection and shelter for Gambians.

Apart from the above core business, the Corporation is an active partner in national development. This is amply manifested in its drive to invest in key sectors of the national economy: health, education, Agriculture and tourism.

While involved in these sectors, the SSHFC is very mindful of the environment within which it operates. So to a large extent, the corporation fulfills its corporate social responsibility (investment).

Over the years therefore the Corporation has built itself an enviable reputation both nationally and internationally. We are true partners in development.

Since its inception SSHFC successfully implemented seven housing projects. These projects provided shelter to thousands of families who were hitherto in crowded family homes or rented properties.

The projects also provided employment opportunities in construction related jobs thus improving the livelihood of thousands of Gambian and non-Gambians.

It is not a secret that housing projects generate a lot of economic activity for any country involved in it.
At the time of executing these housing projects there has been a lot of different activities in the housing sector all of which added value to the housing sector.
