STARWOOD TO OPEN SHERATON Al NABIL HOTEL AND TOWERS IN AMMAN

Starwood, the leading international hotel chain, is set to continue its extensive Middle East expansion with the opening of a luxury five-star property in Jordan in Spring 2001.

"The new Sheraton Al Nabil Hotel and Towers in the capital will make Starwood the only chain with a hotel in every major city in the Middle East," said Sami Zoghbi, president Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc., Africa, India and Middle East.

"This places us far ahead of the competition. We are also involved in similar expansion with our other Starwood brands. We are committed to grow and continue growing."

Richard Fossett, one of the region's most highly regarded hoteliers is general manager of the new property. Fossett has a wealth of experience in the Middle East, as general manager of the Sheraton Bahrain Hotel for many years.

"We will have business from all areas but, it will be more of a commercial hotel than a leisure destination," said Fossett. "Traditionally Sheraton focuses on the business traveler, the conference and market meet but tourism is a very important segment of the market here in Amman. We will be working closely with destination management companies and travel agencies to promote Jordan."

The 283-room Sheraton Amman will include 42 Towers rooms, 6 Classic Suites, 5 Tower Suites 1Diplomatic Suite and 1 Royal Suite.

"The remainder of the guest rooms are all very bright airy rooms, with wonderful interiors from the Paris-based interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon," said Fossett.
"We will also have a 1,000 square meters ballroom which is totally pillarless, and state-of-the-art conferencing facilities including audiovisual equipment with satellite conferencing services. This is also a first in this market."

Restaurants and bars will range from Spice Garden, an informal restaurant with an Asian twist, overlooking the lobby of the hotel, which will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner along with an upscale Italian and Middle Eastern restaurants. The lobby lounge will serve afternoon tea and cocktails while The Green Bar, has a colonial theme.

The health club boasts indoor and outdoor swimming pools, steam rooms and state-of-the-art gym equipment.

"We have a very good product, the Sheraton Al Nabil Hotel and Towers in Amman will be an excellent five-star luxury property," said Fossett. "Amman is a key destination in the region and I believe that by providing high quality service Jordan's hotel industry will soar."
