INTRODUCTION
Liberty Merchant Bank Ltd is a public financial institution established in the best tradition of wholesale banking services. It is carefully staffed and professionally managed to be conservative in approach but dynamic in service delivery. Liberty was incorporated on May 15, 1990 and was granted banking licence on June 28, 1990.
Over the years, Liberty has grown in all spheres of merchant banking, earning respect and a pride of place in the top bracket of Nigeria's banking sector. In these years, Liberty has shown remarkable steady rise in turnover and increased capital base. The bank has developed new products, opened branches and built a corporate head office at No. 31 Bishop Oluwole street, Victoria Island, Lagos from where it currently operates.
A most remarkable aspect of Liberty Merchant Bank however, is that it has almost become synonymous with the Total Quality Management (TQM) principles. Adopted in 1995, TQM has its origin in Japan and its underlying philosophy includes
:
being customer focused;
providing quality service at all times and in good time;
having a bias for action;
being proactive in serving the customer i.e.... being creative and innovative in order to deliver exciting quality at all times and in good time;
and lastly, TQM is a continuing process which requires constant improvement
These core signposts of the TQM process have been imbibed and adopted to the day-to-day business of Liberty Merchant Bank. More than any other financial institution, Liberty has been able to quantify its services to customers through its unique Standard Quality Indicators (SQIs). With this, the bank measures on a monthly basis, the level of customer satisfaction or dis-satisfaction
A distinctive mix of capabilities, customer intimacy, commitment to excellence - these elements leave us well positioned to achieve success for our clients and shareholders.
