Floating dock with 3,000 tons lifting capacity

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Nigerdock Nigeria Limited was incorporated in 1986 as wholly owned by Federal Government of Nigeria Limited Liability Company to manage the 25,000 DWT ship-repair yard at Snake Island, Lagos. Built between 1981 and 1985 at a cost 0f =N=86 million, the shipyard was conceived to provide maintenance and repair services to sea-going and other vessels of both Nigerian and foreign flags.

Shipyard commenced operations in 1986 and in 1996 went public with a share capital of $45 million.

Nigerdock has from inception grown technically from mere underwater repairs to total repair of vessels of up to 30,OOODWT. Nigerdock has also constructed 30 passenger steel hull ferries, aluminium pilot boats, tugs, offshore buoys and flare buoys. The knowledge gained has prepared Nigerdock to take on offshore constructions. The construction/refurbishing of various mooring/flare buoys, which demand very strict QAIQC and safety requirements prepared Nigerdock for offshore construction

Our direction towards the ship-repair and construction industry remains steady, but now we now have entered into the oil and gas industry as a fully qualified construction company

We have restructured our business and are capable of fabricating jackets, decks, production packages having weight limitations of 2000 tons and their onshore/offshore installation and hook-up. We have also extended our workforce and expertise to refurbishment and decommissioning.

In line with our commitment to continuously improve and diversify our services to our clients we, at Nigerdock, have incorporated into our operations a manpower and equipment supply division.

We have created a manpower database covering several areas of specialisation. These include:
  • Engineers, Superintendents and Supervisors

    - mechanical (welding, fabrication, etc.)
    - electrical
    - instrumentation
    - construction
    - corrosion control (coating/blasting)
  • Training Instructors and Inspectors

  • - Welding
    - Coating
    - QA/QC
    - Safety

  • Welders
  • Fitters/Fabricators
  • Mechanic
    • Electricians
    • Body Shop Personnel

We can provide, and cater for, personnel in each of these fields to meet our clients specifications in terms of certification, experience, etc.

In addition we offer allied equipment support services, either on lease or outright supply basis.

These may be broadly categorized under the following headings:
  • Welding and Fabrication Equipment and Tools
  • Coating and Painting Equipment
  • Testing Equipment
  • Erection and Handling Equipmen

  • Our cost-effective approach to this industry combined with the superior safety record and demonstrated quality standards, meet all international requirements. We have since embarked on a 549 million expansion program that allows us to build vessels Up to 8,000DWT as well as allow us to build and load out structures for oil and gas industry up to 5,000 tons.

    QUALITY ASSURANCE

    1. Quality Assurance

The Quality Management System which is established to control the activities for Engineering, Detailed design, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Hand-over activities of NIGERDOCK PLC and which sets out the requirements of BSEN ISO 9001: 1994 are to be applied to its scope of operations.

It provides the framework for the development of detailed management procedures and identifies the areas where they will be applied. The purpose of the Quality Management System structure is to assist as a reference document for the project management team. Furthermore, to provide an audit trail by which client and project management will derive confidence that any given project is being engineered, procured and constructed in accordance with contract requirements.

    2. Quality Objectives

The project quality objectives are to ensure that all design, procurement, construction testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning activities undertaken on any given project are.

  • Planned and performed in such a manner that all facilities are designed to be safe. reliable and free of errors and deficiencies.
  • Planned and performed to achieve the required quality, within budget and schedule requirements, without over design or unnecessarily stringent specifications.
  • In accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Performed correctly the first time to ensure cost effectiveness and efficiency

  • Determination of conformance of work to contract and regulatory requirements is made on the basis of periodic review and audit by various project management team members and NIGERDOCK Plc audits/reviews.

Presently representative of Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) is undertaking an audit and consultancy that will culminate to Nigerdock being ISO 9001 certified.
