In 2007, Serena Group realized Rwanda was ready to have a five stars hotel, so after following the right procedures the group received a note from the government to develop this project. From that moment up to date, Kigali Serena Hotel has presented an up growing performance line, with increasing positive results year after year, and with a very positive perspective for the upcoming years.

As an irrefutable proof of this, the hotel has won for the last three consecutive years the award of Rwanda's Leading Hotel and all the efforts are focused on continuing on this track.

The group's market target has always been clear and Kigali Serena has addressed its efforts to construct the right infrastructure to attract this segment, taking care of the worldwide executive class that arrive to Rwanda to work and/or relax.

Ideally located on one of Kigali's most charming boulevards, this five-star hotel showcases the very best of Rwandese cultural art. Relaxed yet elegant, Kigali Serena Hotel features an Executive Lounge and Bar, which opens onto a wide sundeck overlooking the newly refurbished swimming pool. Also overlooking the pool, the popular Milima Restaurant offers a wide range of all-day buffet and fine a la carte menu choices, while the relaxed Sokoni Café offers inside and outside poolside dining seating.

Among these amenities, it is also possible to find a wide selection of 148 rooms and suites, all of them with AC, satellite TV, WiFi and voice-mail. The swimming pool, pool deck and gardens involve the guests into a calm environment. The Maisha Health Club, with a fully equipped gym and spa. Also, on its business side one can find a dedicated conference and social events center, business center, travel desk, taxi and limousine service as well as the Gift Shop, news-stand and travel requisites kiosk.

For the last two years the hotel has strongly invested on training its staff, with a sophisticated human resources program. It also hosts over 200 students from colleges and partnered with them in order to develop skills and promote the country's competitiveness.

In the following years, the objective is to add another hotel to Serena Kigali and Serena Lake Kivu. The group is looking to establishing a five star Lodge in Kinigi, near where the silver back mountain gorillas are found, as well as continue with the expansion of the already existing facilities at the Kigali Serena Hotel by a hundred rooms. But above all this, the main focus continues to be the proper training and skills development of the staff, which will allow Kigali Serena Hotel to stay ahead of the competition.
