WHAT IS IDIA ?

The Institute of Industrial Development of Angola which is abbreviated to (IDIA) is a legal public organ with an autonomous administration and financial heritance. This organization is responsible for the management process of re-industrialization and is subject to scrutiny by the Ministry of Industries.

The Institute was formed by article no. 17/95 dated 16th of June of the Laws of Angola as a valuable instrument in the application of development in the Industrial sector and as an entity which has a final principal of inciting or encouraging, Promoting, Orienting and Coordinating Industrial Development. Mobilizing its workers in particular to promote the creation of Poles of Industrial Development, strategic projects and to put into effect machines and other instruments which supports and help the country´ s process of industrialization.

The Institute has its Head Office in Luanda and has its services in some of the Provinces of the country.

SUPERVISION

The Institute is under the guardianship of the Ministry of Industries which does the following:

• Approve IDIA ´s schedule of activities
• Approve the Budget Plan proposed by IDIA
• Checking of all financial activities of IDIA in accordance with the Law.
• Accompanies, Controls and Evaluates the activities of IDIA
• It suspends, revokes or withdraws and cancels any acts of management that violets the Law or is considered inconvenient to the interest of the general public.

Duties

Below are duties of the Institute:

• Instigate Industrial Development which will make possible for the creation of a national economic integration and equilibrium between diverse regions of the country.
• Promote the construction of infrastructure for the basis of industrial operations and incite the creation and appropriate operation of the Poles of Industrial Development.
• Promote the creation of Industrial Development Societies (IDSs).
• Act as a drive or force in regional development in the Industrial Sector.
• Incite or encourage actions and tendencies aimed at improving the competitiveness of companies or Industries.
• Cooperate with Business Associations, Trade Unions and other organizations by urging them to participate actively in the identification of strategies and Plans which will allow the reconstruction of Industrial activities and enhance the country´ s re industrialization process.
• Collaborate with government Ministries and other government organs in the collection of tax and customs duty which is important for industrial development.
• Coordinate with Provincial Administrations with a view to encourage Industrial Development in each and every Province.
• Organize technical courses which will help in the fields of Business Management, Economics or Finance, Human Resource Management, Production and Technology innovation and Industrial Performance.
• Help in the organization of trade Fairs and Commercial Shows that favor the Industrial Sector.
