We drive
through the main streets of the city to the national museum
where we have a look at contemporary African art and colonial
antiques .we then go in to visit the kwame Nkrumah mausoleum,
a park and a museum in honour of the first president of Ghana.
Next, we visit the makola market environment.
From Accra
we move on to winneba, a very breezy town. We visit its old
fishing harbor, watch the fisherman mend their broken nets and
see how they land their catch. On our way back we pass through
kokrobite to see its academy of African music and arts which
is under a Ghanaian / German management. An afternoon of drumming
and dancing at sea side (wonderful view) by a resident drama
troupe can be arranged

OF ABURI BOTANICAL GARDENS

Aburi,
on the Akwapem Mountains is a small town about 40km north of
the capital, Accra. it has a very big , rich & beautiful
botanical garden founded in 1890 by the British colonial clerks
as an agricultural research station , in it are two cozy restaurants
. on our way back we visit abokobi’s wonderful and historic
settlement of the Basel ( Swiss) missionaries in the gold coast
era in the 1850’s. we will visit the first cocoa plantation
in Ghana made by Tetteh Quashie in 1879. Then we’ll visit
the house in which he lived.

Akosombo
is situated at the North East of Accra. Ghana has a 400km long
lake called Volta, which is one of the largest manmade lakes
in the world. it covers an area of about 8500km the lake was
created as a result of the need to construct a hydro –electric
Dam which was built in the 1960’s. There is a three hour-
afternoon cruise with a lot of music and dancing to the Dodi
Island on Volta Lake

We drive
trough the popular garden city of Ghana to the central market,
the largest traditional market in west Africa, and continue
to the national cultural and crafts center .we will also visit
the prempeh II museum. On the grounds of the okomfo anokye teaching
hospital is a sword which was planted in the ground by Okomfo
Anokye, once a powerful fetish priest who lived among the Ashanti
people. Ever since this sword was planted in the soil many years
back, most people have through various means tried to uproot
it but to no avail. There is also a military museum near the
central post office which we visit, from there we move on to
the Manhyia palace, the official residence of the chief of the
Ashanti people (Asantehene). The Ashanti people and their sub
– chiefs have been able to preserve the traditional authority
in the Asantehene before and even after independence .a few
kilometers on the outskirts of Kumasi are Pankrono and Ahwia
popularly known for pottery and wood carvings respectively.
Bonwire is also know for their best loam woven Kente fabrics
in West Africa .as a matter of fact, kente fabrics originated
from Ghana ,and Bonwire to be specific.
NORTHERN
TOUR

Tour Name: Savannah
We stop
over Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region from Kumasi to see an
all year round steep waterfall and continue to tamale in the
Northern region of Ghana. From Kintampo, the vegetation changes
from the dense forest we have been accustomed to from the Ashanti
region. They’re virtually no trees or where there are,
they are the very low type. Grass is predominant in the vegetation.
At certain times of the year, there is no green vegetation at
all. In the North we visit the Mole National Park, the nation’s
number one game reserve; where we find most species of animals
which otherwise would be extinct due to excessive hunting. Some
of the animals include various types of birds, Monkeys, antelopes,
elephants, bucks, buffalos, cobs, etc. some of the animals can
easily be seen when they come to the watering hole below the
hotel either early in the morning or in the evening. Guides
are available to take us trough this reserve.

OF CAPE COAST & ELMINA

Cape coast,
the capital town of central region is situated at about 144km
west of Accra. Next to it is Elmina. both cape coast and Elmina
have one thing in common; castles which have been classified
as World Heritage Monuments by UNESCO‘s world Heritage
Foundation due to their importance in the slave trade days.
The slaves were brought here from various areas in the country
to be sold and shipped to north, South America and anywhere
their masters would take them. On the way to cape coast from
Accra, are several fishing villages with attractive beaches,
beautified with coconut trees. The museums and monuments board
provide a guide tour of the slave dungeons in the cape coast
castle. From cape coast, we continue to fort St Jago at Elmina.
This tour in particular reveals the history of the slave trade
by the Europeans along the coasts of Africa .the Kakum forest,
a typical dense tropical rain forest with herbal plants and
trees is also situated at approximately 30km off cape coast
.the park authorities can be contacted for a guide tour.
