The bank is quite young but it has already won the
confidence of the different sectors of the market and
has loyal partners. Even though it has a small struc-
ture, it still has a high credibility, thanks to its offer:
personalized service and proximity, the clients are
accompanied from the identification of their needs
until their satisfaction.
The BANC provides services such as support for the
creation of new enterprises, making easy to the ac-
cess to bank accounts, creation of new products for
young students, family support, with, for example,
credit for health or housing, credit cards and eBank-
ing in 2011.
Their current common stock is about $20 million and
is continuously rising. The bank is working to consol-
idate its image and grow organically in this country.
To achieve this plan, BANC is constantly hiring and
offering training to their employees.

The National Bank of Angola was set up in 1976. The
only aim of establishing the bank was to control the
commerce of the country, still by the time the bank
acted as the central bank. 

During Angola’s economic reforms process towards
a market driven economy, the bank helped a lot.
Over this period the Two-layer banking system was
started wherein the National Bank of Angola acted
as the central bank of the country.
In 1999, the bank started implementing a set of
measures with a view of stabilizing the country’s
economy.
The most important functions of the bank are as fol-
lows:
• Preserving the value of the national currency
• Banker to the Government
• Acts as an intermediary in monetary relation
• Maintains stability in the domestic market
• Financer of the last resort

Banco de Poupança e Crédito (BPC) is the biggest
and oldest commercial bank in Angola with 239 sales
points and over a million clients spread all over the
country.
Successively known as Banco Comercial de Angola
(1956-1975) then Banco Popular de Angola (1975-
1991), the initial function of the bank was to capture
private savings, acting as a department of Banco
Nacional de Angola (BNA).
Final denomination Banco de Poupança e Crédito
was given on the 16th of August, 1991 after publi-
cation of articles nº. 4/91 – Lei Orgânica do Banco
Nacional de Angola e nº. 5/91 – Lei das Instituições
Financeiras that officially announced the end of the
state monopoly.
Financial reform resulted in the creation of 2 state-
owned banks to run the commercial activity: Banco
de Poupança e Crédito (former Banco Popular de
Angola) and Banco de Comercio e Industria whilst
BNA remained with an institutional function of central
bank and monetary authority.
After a decade of strong geographical expansion,
