During 2010, safe and reliable operations continued
to be the main focus, with a new emphasis on sector
leadership and becoming the best of the best with
continuous improvement always in mind.
Angolanization of the Workforce
BP continues to collaborate with the Angolan gov-
ernment in its continuous commitment regarding
progress and development, having in base the ben-
efit in terms of natural and human resources that the
country has to offer.
BPAngola aims to equip Angolans with qualifications
that will enable them to be taken onto the company’s
permanent staff and to gain the knowledge and ex-
perience that will allow for the gradual takeover of
posts occupied by expatriates.
Recruitment, Individual Training and Development
Personal development in BP Angola is regarded as
a shared responsibility between employer and em-
ployee. BP seeks to recruit people with promising or
consolidated aptitudes and we develop their capa-
bilities with specific training programs. The selection
methods for job candidates at BP are uncompro-
mising. They are designed to choose the candidate
most suited to the job requirements, while simulta-
neously compensating at all levels. A professional
development program called the Challenge Program
is offered to graduates entering BP at the very start,
which helps them to choose the path most suited to
their career progression.

BP also values highly qualified individuals and expe-
rienced professionals, and therefore seeks to recruit
personnel with considerable knowledge in each field
and with a record of commercial and technical ex-
pertise in multiple areas, in order to support the vast
scope of our business.
Sustainable Development
BP has a long-term strategy in Angola and its peo-
ple. The company recognizes its responsibilities by
going further than generating revenues from our in-
vestment in the country.
Strategy involves contributing to economical and
social development in Angola, supporting various
education programs at all academic levels and pro-
moting the development of local companies.
The company is also involved in initiatives that show
our responsible behavior towards the environment
as well as other projects that are aimed at helping
reduce poverty and promote social inclusion.
