Halliburton In Angola
Halliburton began operating in Angola in 1968, and
now has 1,489 employees working in various loca-
tions around the country. With three operational
bases in Angola, our services enable energy produc-
ers to safely and effectively locate, drill, evaluate, ac-
cess, produce and maintain their oil and natural gas
wells. We offer our customers integrated solutions to
their challenges, with a focus on health, safety and
environment (HSE) and service quality. We also con-
tinue to promote sustainable development for Angola
with our commitment to local content, workforce de-
velopment, local suppliers and local communities.
Committed to Offshore Angola
Halliburton’s vessels in Angola have been used to
successfully complete hundreds of stimulation, sand
control and remedial well treatments. In November
2009, Halliburton launched the next-generation ves-
sel dedicated to the region, the Stim Star Angola.
The vessel is fully equipped to handle all phases of
production stimulation, including acidizing, acid frac-
turing, proppant fracturing and sand control. To date,
Stim Star Angola has completed 38 stimulation jobs
in Angola.
Sim Star vessel
For more than 15 years, our Formation and Reser-
voir Solutions (FRS) team has transformed forma-
tion evaluation data into valuable answers for An-
gola. We offer a range of log interpretation solutions
that enable reservoir assessment, field development
planning and production enhancement. Halliburton
integrates people, workflows, data and knowledge
to deliver the answers and information our custom-
ers need.
Training, Development and Nationalization
In an effort to expand the training and development
of our current personnel and to attract local workers,
Halliburton launched its Field Operations Develop-
ment Program in several countries, including Angola.
This multi-year program, which started in June 2010,
is designed to hire new, local graduates in engineer-
ing, sciences and other disciplines, and to provide
the robust training and development opportunities
that will enable them to become field-operations pro-
fessionals.
University Partnerships
Universities are a pillar of successful communities.
As part of our commitment to the communities where
we do business, Halliburton supports a wide array
of initiatives and projects in universities around the
world. We support educational institutions donating
software, technology grants, collaborative projects
and scholarship funding, in addition to instructional
and other special academic programs. Through its
Software Grant Program, Halliburton provides the
latest geosciences software for use in both research
and academic applications.
In Angola, Halliburton is continuing its partnership
with the Universidade Agostinho Neto (UAN), a pub-
lic university based in Luanda. At UAN, we provide
training and internship programs, and we have given
the university a grant for our GeoGraphix® suite of
technologies, which is used by many operators in
Angola. We are also providing full four-year scholar-
ship funding to Angolan university students.
Malaria Initiative in Africa
In locations throughout Africa, Halliburton employ-
ees and their families are affected by the threat of
malaria, a deadly yet entirely preventable disease.
As a founding member of the Corporate Alliance on
Malaria in Africa (CAMA), we have partnered with
other global companies operating in Sub-Saharan
Africa to work toward eradicating malaria.
