Energy & Mining
The new structure will enable clients to access:
A high-end fleet composed of 42 vessels with high-
specification (pipe lay, construction, remote interven-
tion and diving support vessels)
150 Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and addi-
tional construction, survey and diving equipment
Most activities of Subsea 7 fall within Engineering,
Procurement, Installation and Commissioning (EPIC)
projects:
SURF services include engineering and construction
for subsea field developments, pipeline and riser sys-
tems and associated services.
Life-of-Field services across all categories of Life-of-
Field work, including inspection, maintenance and
repair, integrity management and remote intervention.
Conventional Services: deepwater expertise is com-
plemented by conventional construction skills and ca-
pabilities that help clients solve complex hydrocarbon
extraction and field development problems (fabrication
and installation of fixed platforms and associated pipe-
lines, as well as hook-up and platform refurbishment).
Renewable energies market: the proven seabed-to-
surface expertise, capabilities, strong safety and risk
management processes and systems of Subsea 7 are
fully transferable to support this emerging market.
In Angola, the activity of Subsea 7 started in 1995 when
Acergy established to successfully lead the Girassol pro-
ject located 210 km northwest of Luanda for Total E&P
Angola.
So far, this project is the most important realization of
the group in Angola; it has been awarded in Houston
in 2009 (Girassol Pipeline Repair System). This project
consisted in a massive repair operation in water depth
of up to 1,350 m. Subsea 7 had to perform the design,
manufacture, testing and operations of a new deepwater
pipeline repair system on a damaged 12-inch-diameter
water injection pipeline.
The pipeline repair system comprises a set of permanent
equipment including the spool deployment frame, rigid
spool piece, end connection skids and two mechanical
pipeline connectors together with a suite of ROV de-
ployed or operated tools for preparing and aligning the
pipeline prior to the connector installation.
InAngola, clients of Subsea 7 benefit high-end facilities in
both Luanda and Lobito/Soyo:
7 vessels based in Angola, each of them can provide
100 to 150 positions
Aspool base located within the Sonils Oil Service Cen-
tre in the Port of Luanda. The base covers an area of
65,376m² and is 715m long including a 75m load-out
jetty. The site employs over 200 people.
Sonamet Lobito yard provides high quality fabrication,
survey, storage and handling services both for shallow
and deepwater projects offshoreAngola. The yard em-
ploys over 1,600 local people and trains approximately
200 people per year. Facilities include:
80 hectares area
2,000m² workshops
1,500m² offices
200m quay, 10m draft, 3,000t capacity
3 x Super duplex workshops of 3,000m²
3 x 400t crawler cranes
Since 2004, Subsea 7 has been a leader in Angola with
a 52% market share on the pipelines and subsea engi-
neering activities. The company contemplates a promis-
ing future with more projects to come, the most challeng-
ing being the CLOV and Pazflor developments for Total.
Subsea 7 is willing to maintain its leadership in Angola,
market that contributes to 20% of its total overall revenue
and bets on increasing activity in 2012 with a peak in
2014.
