Other significant investments have been made in the
manufacturing of motor vehicles. In 2007 China’s
Dongfeng and Japan’s Nissan invested US$ 30 mil-
lion to establish a car manufacturing plant in Viana.
From their joint venture with Angola’s CGS Automov-
el, operations at the Zhengzhou Nissan (ZZNissan)
plant began in 2008. The plant is scheduled to pro-
duce 30,000 vehicles annually and provide over 300
jobs during its initial stage. 3 additional car factories
are planned to open in Viana and Benguela.
One of the most important project in mining is led by
Ferrangol which plans to inject US$ 700 million to re-
launch the prospection and exploitation of iron and
manganese in the Cassinga Complex in Huíla and in
Kwanza Norte provinces. Further construction of an
iron and steel factory is planned in Huíla or Namibe
provinces. The vast resources of magnesium and
copper among others remain untapped. Please refer
to the Energy and Mining chapter.
On the field of energy, promotion of renewable and
clean energies such as wind, water and solar powers
are being researched. Sonangol and ENI are lead-
ing a project on bio-combustibles and food to meet
the needs of palm oil and biodiesel. Sonangol has
invested US$ 90 million for the construction of a new
maritime base in Kikombo, municipality of Kwanza
Sul. The construction will be done by a Portuguese
company and it is estimated to be operative in 2012.
Angola has one petroleum refinery, which produced
about 40,000 barrels per day. Construction works
for a new refinery are underway at 10 km north of
Lobito, in Benguela Province. The contract for the
construction of the new refinery was granted to
Texas-based KBR Inc in 2008. The Lobito refinery
is expected to be completed by 2014 and to produce
115,000-bbl/d during its first phase of operation and
200,000-bbl/d by 2015.

In fact, many customers bring their machine to the

for technical assistance and customer support. Their
presence is consolidated with investments and local
partnerships using the new brand TractorMak.
As a distributor throughout the whole country, with
excellent relationships with major suppliers, Aï-

heavy equipment, Himoinsa generators, W-Weber
cleaning and sanitation equipment and the Brazilian
