Safric (Sociedade Angolana de Frio, Represen-
tações Industriais e Comerciais) is part of “Compag-
nie du Komo” (CDK), a holding company also known
as Groupe Sogafric. Since its inception in Port Gentil
(Gabon) in 1957, CDK has developed a wide range
of activities and has financial stakes in the Industry,
Trade and Finance sectors in Gabon, Congo, Angola
and France. Acknowledged to be a large job provider
in Gabon, CDK has 1.100 employees.
Nowadays the automotive business represents 70%
of the current activity of CDK. However the group
develops expertise in various fields of operation:
Refrigeration, construction and collective equip-
ment, plumbing, security (Sogafric Services)
Importation and distribution of vehicles (Sodim TP
and Toyota Gabon)
Importation and distribution of civil engineering
and logging equipment (Sodim TP)
Long term leasing and rent a car (Gesparc)
Industrial engineering, shipbuilding (Sogi)
Home and office equipment and furniture (Electra)
Furthermore, CDK has participations in different sec-
tors such as:
Finance: Banking (BGFI Bank), Insurance (ASSINCO)
Mining (Maboumine)
Energy (SEEG, Gaboa)
Safric has been operating in Angola since 1990 (pre-
vious activities since 1983 were undertaken through
another affiliated company of Groupe Sogafric) and
became a subsidiary of CDK in 2001. Until the mid 90´s
the refrigeration industry represented 80 to 90% of the
total volume of activity. Backed up by a group that ben-
efits from knowledge, expertise and excellent reputa-
tion, Safric provides services in semi-professional air
conditioning systems and cold processing units.
Although this activity still represents a reasonable
share of business, Safric has become representant
for a variety of famous international brands:
Otis (lifts : supply, installation and maintenance)
Westpoint (air conditioners)
Masons (PRAMAC power generators)
Michelin (tyres)
Safric‘s strategy is to concentrate efforts on its core
business: trading and distribution of international
brands in Angola to grow locally. More importantly,
CDK’s policy is to widen the field of operation to-
wards Central African countries. The Group is seek-
ing to optimize its participation in strategic alliances.
“Investors shouldn’t see Angola as an “Eldorado”.
Investment has to go along with a long term vision,
creating a stable and integrated environment to sup-
port the growth of the country and contribute to its
development. Our philosophy is to build for the future
generations.”
