MOBILE PHONES
There is two main cellular operators in Angola. Movi-
cel and Unitel. Movicel is the cellular division of An-
gola Telecom while Unitel is a private entity. Many
shops sell SIM cards from these two companies as
well as scratch recharge cards. The SIM cards are
around 1500 AKZ, and the pre-paid scratch cards

Before you arrive
Before entering Angola, make sure that all your vac-
cinations are up to date. Your family doctor can best
advise you on which vaccinations are recommend-
ed, however it is essential that you have the yellow
fever vaccination, as you are asked to present the
certificate of vaccination on arrival in Angola. Hence,
it is therefore strongly recommended to keep the cer-
tificate in your hand luggage.

Pre-paid recharge cards are the most common and
efficient way of calling within Angola. They are wide-
ly available in the streets and stores. Purchasing a
recharge code at the ATMs/Multicaixas is another
handy option if you have a local bank account.
When travelling outside Luanda, we recommend you
to carry a mobile phone with contracts to both Unitel
and Movicel as coverage for each provider varies
throughout the country.
SATELLITE PHONES
As in any parts of the world Satellite phones can
prove to be very useful in remote parts of the coun-
try. As the overall cell phone coverage is still in ex-
pansion, a sat phone will be needed for urgent com-
munications.
INTERNET SERVICES
There are several internet service providers in Ango-
la. Some offer high speed internet and connections
via satellite. Please refer to the Luanda Business
Directory for contact details.
