The City of Santa Ana
Santa Ana is the second most important city of El
Salvador and it is located in the western Department
of the same name.
Santa Ana is one of the best preserved historical
centers of El Salvador. Among its main buildings are:
the Santa Ana Cathedral, the National Theater, the
Municipal Palace, to mention a few. The façade of
the Santa Ana Cathedral was damaged by a lighting
(it used to be a colonial church like the Temple of
San Juan Apostol in Metapan or Panchimalco) and
it was rebuilt with a different architectural style, Neo-
