The bank maintains a network of 31 branches spread
across the country, covering the most financially ac-
tive cities and regions in northern Sudan. These
branches are connected through an automated net-
work that enables transaction processing between
the various branches in most of the cities where the
communication facilities are available. The bank en-
joys presence in the Gulf States with a branch in Abu
Dhabi, providing services to the vast majority of Su-
danese working in the Gulf States. In addition to the
Emirates investors who have established business
in Sudan and for those potential investors.
The bank provides logistics and services for the in-
vestors through the direct coordination between Abu
Dhabi branch and the head office in Khartoum. This
includes facilitating movements, meeting with tar-
geted authorities, visits to sites, in addition to update
on investment environment in Sudan, in the various
sectors.
Restructuring during the years 2002 and 2009 in-
cluded revising the branches network to concentrate
in economically viable cities and locations, stream-
lining and improving the performance of the bank
units to achieve better workflow and improve cus-
tomer focus. Internal controls were also revised to
enhance the skills of the working force and to maxi-
mize efficiency and productivity of the available re-
sources and of the bank as a whole. Following these
reforms, the bank has set up a clear new mission
and vision targeting the creation of a local bank with
international standards that don’t compromise the
core values, servicing and meets customers’ expec-
tations and protecting the interest of the sharehold-
ers by servicing the Sudanese economy.

while extending multi-faceted and fully fledged bank-

In May 1977, Sudanese and Saudi founders as well
as other nationals of some Islamic States, met and
adopted the idea of establishing the Faisal Islamic
Bank. They prescribed and paid up half of the author-
ized capital and the bank commenced operations in
May 1978. It was the first bank to deal in accordance
with Islamic Law. Profit and trade are encouraged and
provide the foundation for Islamic banking.
The activities of the bank are to conduct all forms of
banking activities, financial, commercial, investment
as well as the participation in economic develop-
ment and social projects. Faisal Islamic Bank also
promotes transactions and cooperation in the field
of foreign trade, in conformity with Islamic Shari’a
law, and advance modern developed banking tech-
niques. By holding on its Islamic principles, the bank
has managed to sustain very good results and has
acquired a first-class reputation. It is one of the top-
five Islamic Banks in the country.
The Faisal Islamic Bank has around 30 branches
dispersed in the main cities of Sudan and 800 em-
ployees. At 70% is owned by foreign shareholders.
