INTRODUCTION

The Economic Chamber of Macedonia is a business-professional, non-party and non-government organization, members of which, according to the positive statutory regulations, are all the entities engaged in economic activities. Its organization and operation are determined by the members of the Chamber, through its organs, bodies and forms of organization. The basic task of the chamber is, first of all, the representation of the interests of the economy in all its spheres, with the aim of accomplishing successful results in the operation of the enterprises both in domestic and foreign markets, increasing the profitability of operation, upgrading the quality, the professional training of personnel, the technical-technological development, the promotion and representation activities and information linking, being the essential prerequisites for developing the trade with foreign countries.

Agency for financial and legal consulting COMCONS

Under the auspices of the Chamber exists and functions the Agency for Financial and Legal Consulting that offers services and helps in the improvement of work of all interested entities and individuals.

The Agency provides the following services:

  • consulting on the problems of finances and financial operations;

  • provides a wide spectrum of legal services for foreign and domestic companies, including the registration and renewal of registration, as well as preparation of operation plans and proposals;

  • top-quality, efficient providing of expertise and business services to the companies;

  • assistance to the small and mid-size enterprises in finding solution to the problems that arise in their operation;

  • consultation, propositions and information on the important data from domestic and international economy on development projects and information on the loan and monetary policy, taxing, customs and market policy;

  • propositions and consultations with holding companies;

  • organization and initiative for appropriate forms, as well as innovation, of the know-how of the managerial and expert personnel;

  • other services that are subject of special agreement between the founder and the Agency.

  • Information System

    The Chamber's Information System offers the basic information service necessary for successful operation of the enterprises. At company's request, the Information System can provide information on how to start a new business venture, or how to establish new contacts with domestic and foreign companies.

    The Information System offers the following services to the foreign companies:

  • Information resources;

  • Information on the economic trends and conditions;

  • International business cooperation;

  • Commercial promotions;

  • Information on the legal regulations;

  • Information on the international trade regulations;

  • Publications;

  • Information on Macedonian economy by branches;

  • Regional support.

    Following sources are used for providing information:

  • Information and data on Macedonian business;

  • Data on the business environment (analysis, legal regulation, economic indicators, export-import data);

  • Information on demand/offer from both domestic and foreign companies;

  • Information on current business meetings, fairs, exhibitions, and other events;

  • Publications.

  • COMREG - register of companies in Macedonia where the data from different sources is collected, and is automatically published in other media (Comreg application form);

  • Membership in EAN International

    EAN MAK, Macedonian organization for coding and marking of products was established in April 1994, as a professional expert body within the Economic Chamber of Macedonia, and it joined EAN International on May 6, 1994.

    Basic function of EAN MAK is to introduce, apply and develop the unified International System for Numerical Coding of Articles (EAN), the International System for Electronic Exchange of Information (EDI), and the EDI system for trade (EANCOM).

    As a member, Republic of Macedonia got for its code the prefix 531, while EAN MAK was authorized by EAN International to issue codes, to develop the system and to apply to the standards of EAN International.

    By the end of October 1998, EAN MAK enrolled 260 companies.

    For the last two years, the Economic Chamber of Macedonia works on the introduction of the international standards of the quality system ISO 9000 in Macedonian economy. For that purpose, the Chamber has trained 18 persons that have completed the course for testers of IRCA (International Register of Certified Auditors) and received international certificates, three persons have received IRCA tester's cards and are listed in the International registry, and nine persons that have received the title of consultants for introduction of ISO 9000.

    With such established infrastructure, the Chamber offers its services to all Macedonian companies towards the introduction of ISO 9000 and getting them to the level when they can be certifies by an internationally authorized institutions. The Chamber's services are in regard to:

    - engaging of consultants and testers at the client;

    - training the client's representatives in the quality providing and internal testing of the quality System;

    - textbooks and additional training materials, and assistance in the process of choosing the internationally recognized certifying institution.

    Quality of Products and Services

    The introduction of the quality System in accordance with the ISO 9000 series of standards is the primary obligation of our economy, and placement of products and services not only to the European Union, but also on the domestic and international markets in general. Cooperation with a British Know-How fund, and the Bywater Plc was established, a cooperation that, after a two year activities, resulted in the Project for introduction of ISO 9000 Quality System in the economy of Macedonia.
