Makedonski Telekomunikacii A.D. is the national telecommunications operator in the Republic of Macedonia. MT provides basic telecommunications services in the Republic of Macedonia, including all local, long distance and international traffic, leased lines, cellular mobile services, and value added services including data communications and Internet access.

The foundation of MTnet as a part of Makedonski Telekomunikacii was a strategic decision of Makedonski Telekomunikacii. Introduction of Internet service of Makedonski Telekomunikacii was based on the need for expansion in new communication technologies on modern, flexible and competitive way. The factors which were determining the success of this business initiative of Makedonski Telekomunikacii were the contribution of Makedonski Telekomunikacii in forming the telecommunication market in our country, and the need for quality services in the competitive market.
More than four years have past from the beginning of the Internet Service of Makedonski Telekomunikacii - MTnet which was on 7-th of December 1995.
During that time the network installation was upgraded few times, in order to satisfy the needs of the Internet users.
Providing Internet services on Macedonian market:
Access services (Dial-up and connections through leased lines),
WEB services (WEB Hosting, development of WEB pages),
Content oriented Internet services (services with interactive content, information services, WEB portals)
Value added services (managed Internet leased lines, VPN networks, managed VPN networks).
Providing Internet access throught the MTnet network for the others Internet Service Providers in Macedonia.
MTnet is making efforts to increase the awareness about Internet and its sociological use to Macedonian citizens, and about support for Internet applications, especially those who are helping the financial, cultural and social development of our society.

MTnet network is connected with the global Internet through
- 128 Kbps satelite link with Cable & Wireless (ex MCI Internet)
- 2 Mbps terrestreal with British Telecom Internet Backbone Service
- 8+4 Mbps terrestreal with Deutsche Telecom / Global One.

The topology of the network between Skopje and the six towns is star like, with 2 Mbps links trough SDN network of MT from Skopje to every town. The reserve backup links are 128 kbps on-demand ISDN BRI connections.
MTnet network instalation provide high level performances in every point of the network in Skopje, and also in the others six towns where our equipment is installed.
Used equipment and the capacity of the main point in Skopje and the points in the other six towns guarantee secure connecting service for current and potential users of MTnet, providing high quality Internet connecting service.
The equpment in Skopje is based on CISCO 7200 backbone routers for connecting on the other points over Macedonia, and for connecting to the whole Internet network also, CISCO 3640 and CISCO 4700 connecting routers for users using leased lines and CISCO AS 5300 access servers for dial-up connection, with 930 installed dial-up lines at this moment and tendence for growing.
The network equpment for the local ethernet network in Skopje is based on ethernet switches CISCO 5002, CISCO 19XX and CISCO CATALYST 4006 in redundant configurations in combination with more virtual LAN networks on 100Mbps and 10 Mbps.
The equpment in the others six towns (Tetovo, Ohrid, Bitola, Stip, Strumica and Kumanovo) where recently the network is spread out is based on CISCO 3640 access routers for access through leased lines in that towns. The computer equpment (concentrate in the main center in Skopje) is based on SUN Unix servers and work stations (in cluster configuration), Hewlett Packard and DELL Windows NT servers, also Hewlett Packard Unix and NT work stations for managing the network and the services.

Users support is provided through the technical support service:
For Dial-up users on(091) 114-454 every working day from 07:00 to 20:00h.
For Internet leased lines users on (091) 213-221 every working day from 07:00 to 20:00 h.
Connecting number for the users is 055 857 for all dial-up users all over Macedonia.
| RETAIL |
The retail of the products and services of MTnet is carried out through the distribuitive network of Makedonski Telekomunikacii.
At the moment, there is only one direct retail place in Skopje:
Internet Demo Center in GTC first floor (the enter is on the side of Zena Park); tel: 109-999 every working day from 07:30 to 20:00 and every Saturday from 08:00 to 14:00,
Other retail places through Macedonia are located in the nearest TK Center
