Each of us carries the memory of a special place. A special time. To a fortunate few, it is time spent on one of the most beautiful lakeshore beaches in the world. An extraordinary place known as Club Makokola. This is a place waiting to be discovered. Again. Or for the very first time.

Discover the natural treasures of the lake, more than 400 species and a dense vegetation that will satisfy the needs of the most demanding divers and snorkellers

North of Mangochi on the palm fringed southern shore of lake Malawi, Club Makokola awaits. Your eyes and you hear the call of a fish eagle, laughter, the lapping of the lake on a sandy shore. Open them and gaze across the sparkling Lake at a distant island, a faraway shore, an infinite blue sky.

Have you ever wondered what you would do if the day was yours to design? The possibilities are intoxicating and endless. Today you might deepen your tan on an exquisite sandy beach, or don mask and snorkel and discover technicolor world of the Lake’s tropical fish. Be curious.

Finish a book. Learn to Scuba dive or tie a pareo round your hips. Everything routine and ordinary was banished when you arrived here. Some come to play golf among the baobabs or sail an inland sea. Others aspire to do nothing more than read Michener or hemingway or sip long cocktails at the beach bar or cool off in the sparkling pool.

That is the ultimate luxuary – absolute freedom. To come and go. To dress in casual comfort. A candlelit table for two on the pool deck. Tennis or squash on courts hidden away in rolling tropical gardens. The freshness of the breeze. The brilliance of the sun and stars overhead. A quiet corner to retreat to. Enought space to spread out. Enough time tp restore body and soul. Enough freedom to do whatever you please.

Enjoy a cocktail around the pool ... and feel the tropical and relaxing atmosphere of the lake

For the watersport enthusiast, the Lake is unsurpassed. The unimpeded stretches of clear safe water are a paradise for waterskiers and board sailers. For those who thrill to the joy of sailing, the Lake offers sheer delight.
The dive centre has a full range of dive gear for hire and conducts exciting dives in Lake Malawi National Park waters, on rock reefs, or dive sites around Boadzulu Island.

Mlambe Golf Course, located alongside Club Makokola, offers nine holes of golf in a unique African setting which golfers will find as challenging as it is beautiful.

Club Makokola has 2 tennis courts (one of which is floodlit), a huge 44m x 16m swimming pool, squesh court and table tennis and beach volleyball facilities.

The Hotel’s excellent air conditioned conference facilities make it an obvious choice for incentives and conferences.

Orange view on the mountains

There are also many interesting excursions that can be made from Club Makokola. Liwonde National Park offers a true taste of Africa. Cap Maclear is a world heritage site and one of the most beautiful coves on the lakeshore; Zomba Mountain offers superb walks and unsurpassed views...

Do everything or nothing.
At Club Makokola , the choice is always yours.
