Malawi is the land of love at first sight. Lake Malawi, described by Dr. David Livingstone as the "lake of Stars" is the country’s magical centrepiece.
As of January 1st ,2000, we have acquired the management of owned Sunbird Hotels & Resorts situated in Malawi, 8 properties with a total 647 rooms.
Two properties to be branded Le Meridien in spring 2000:
Le Meridien Capital situated in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi (187 rooms)
Le Meridien Mount Soche in blantyre, the main commercial city in Malawi (132 rooms)
A further three properties will be branded in 2001:
Kuchawe Inn, a mountain resort in Zomba (40 rooms)
Nkopola Lodge (63 rooms)
Livingstonia Beach Hotel at Lake Malawi (39 rooms)
The remaining three properties, Lilongwe Hotel (92 rooms), Mzuzu Hotel (60 rooms) and Lingadzi Inn (34 rooms) will not be branded, however they will be directly managed by Le Meridien Mount Soche.

Set in to a hilside on the shore of Lake Malawi, Nkopola Lodge is the place for the watersport enthusiast to holiday in rustic style and comfort.
Accomodation comprises 39 rooms and 16 rondavels that are ideal for families. Fill your days with delight in and out of the water. Nkopola Lodge and its leisure centre has everything- nature trails, sailboards, dinghies, canoes, speed boats as well as fishing, snorkeling and waterskiing equipment. The less sporty Can while away tranquil days swimming in rocky coves or lazing under shady palms.
The lodge also has a professional dive centre for the scuba enthusiast and an adventure swimming pool set in front of the rondavels, behind the beach front rooms.
LIVINGSTONIA BEACH HOTEL |
Set in broad grounds with pleasant shady lawns leading onto a magnificent beach, accomodation ranges from upmarket honeymoon chalets to modern en-siute bedrooms. There is a first floor restaurant with a breathtaking view of the lake, magnificent pool cheerful pool bar and patio area. The hotel shop has a range of local handicrafts for sale. Dinghies with outboard motors, a sailing dinghy and a fishing boat are available for hire as are sialboards and kayaks. |
