The cementing industry, one of the economic pillars of Argentina, aspires to achieve sustained development and a major role in the national context.

In Argentina, this industry has closely followed the productive upswings, as part of a bigger segment, the construction industry, that is also an important job generator for thousands of Argentineans.

Cementos Avellaneda, with over 75 years of productive activities, was and is a major actor in the cement industry and its varieties, with a dynamic and efficient profile.

Relevant Milestones

Cementos Avellaneda joined the International Cementing Business Group in 1980. Since then, the company has benefited both from important investments and scientific and technological contributions.

This way, Cementos Avellaneda is entering the new century with a strong presence in the production of high quality materials for the Argentinean Construction Industry.

International Cementing Business Group, the best guarantee

Cementos Avellaneda S.A. is a member of the International Cementing Business Group, composed by Uniland and Molins. A highly qualified group of industries, integrated as follows:

Cementos Molins / Cementos Uniland
Two of the leading European cement groups.

Cementos Avellaneda
In has two factories in our country: one in Olavarría, province of Buenos Aires, and the other one in La Calera, province of San Luis.

Uruguayan Company of Portland Cement

Based in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Production capacity of the plants of the whole group reaches 6,770,000 tons/year, enough to supply cement to a country such as Argentina for over a year.

Investments for development

Since 1980, the International Cementing Business Group has invested over 150,000,000 dollars in Argentina and Uruguay.

This is an economic decision that conveys great confidence in current and future developments of the cement industry for those companies capable of adapting their technology to the most demanding markets.

Strict trends of industrial development, with international parameters, show the group’s aim to reach a major role in the construction material markets of the American South Cone.

Cementos Avellaneda, a decision to grow

CEMENTOS AVELLANEDA - Olavarría plant (Province of Buenos Aires)

Cementos Avellaneda adds between its production plants in Olavarría and San Luis a production capacity of 1,420,000 tons per year of cement and 240,000 tons per year of hydraulic and hydrated lime.

The San Jacinto plant in Olavarría is placed in one of the richest quarries of the country. This is from where the company extracts the raw material to manufacture the normal cement, extra cement, ARS cement, ARS petrol cement, and also hydraulic and hydrated lime, produced by means of an advanced milling and roller press process unique in all Latin America.

CEMENTOS AVELLANEDA El Gigante plant (Province of San Luis)
This plant also produces the Hidralit bricklaying cement and an Impermeable Perfect glue for ceramics, which qualities benefit from the exhaustive uniformity control of its raw materials, carried out by one of the most demanding labs of the country situated in the actual industrial plant.

URUGUAYAN COMPAÑY OF PORTLAND CEMENT - Minas plant (Uruguay)

El Gigante plant, in San Luis province, manufactures El Gigante cement and Hidralit bricklaying cement. This plant has recently benefited from an investment of 35,000,000 dollars to reconvert its productive process from the wet procedure to the dry procedure. This last modification duplicated its installed capacity.

Therefore, with raw materials of the highest quality, and advanced technological equipment, Cementos Avellaneda S.A. meets the innovation vocation of the International Cementing Business Group, with the strongest decision to grow.
