 HISTORY |
Created in Douala in 1953 and called the Public Works Laboratory of Cameroon (LTPC), it has, with effect from 10 July 1980, become the National Public Works Laboratory (LABOBENIE) thanks to Decree N°80/251.
Since inception, it is a scientific and technical establishment at the service of the public and private sectors, for the conduct of tests and experiments relating to the foundations and construction materials for houses, roads and other civil engineering infrastructures.
LABOGENIE is a restructured industrial and commercial-type State-owned enterprise with legal status and financial autonomy, placed under the supervisory authority of the Ministry of Public Works.

| MISSION |
Its main duties are to supervise and see to the quality of all civil engineering infrastructures:
Research and experimentation on construction works and techniques
Research on material-related standards and seeing to their respect
Giving technical advise on studies and measures relating to the development of building materials, especially local ones
Laying down technical guidelines and making sure they are respected in the use of building materials
Training technical personnel specialized in geotechnics in conjunction with both national and international school and university establishments
