HISTORY

Created in Douala in 1953 and called the Public Works Laboratory of Cameroon (LTPC), it has, with effect from 10 July 1980, become the National Public Works Laboratory (LABOBENIE) thanks to Decree N°80/251.

Since inception, it is a scientific and technical establishment at the service of the public and private sectors, for the conduct of tests and experiments relating to the foundations and construction materials for houses, roads and other civil engineering infrastructures.

LABOGENIE is a restructured industrial and commercial-type State-owned enterprise with legal status and financial autonomy, placed under the supervisory authority of the Ministry of Public Works.

ORGANISATION

LABOGENIE is represented in the country as follows:

  • The headquarters: Central Laboratory in Yaounde

  • Two Regional Subdivisions in Douala and Limbe

  • Two bases in Bafoussan and Garoua

  • Mobile Units for on-site geo-technical studies or supervision

    The administrative organisation includes:

  • Board of Directors

  • Direction

  • Director with Mr David Minkousse

  • Sub-Direction (production + commercialisation)

  • Sub-Director Mr Etienne Marcelin Kana

  • The regional Subdivision of Douala

  • Chief of the regional subdivision Mr Jean Moufo

  • The regional Subdivision of Limbe

  • Chief of the regional Subdivision Mr Fritz Ilongo

    MISSION

Its main duties are to supervise and see to the quality of all civil engineering infrastructures:

  • Research and experimentation on construction works and techniques

  • Research on material-related standards and seeing to their respect

  • Giving technical advise on studies and measures relating to the development of building materials, especially local ones

  • Laying down technical guidelines and making sure they are respected in the use of building materials

  • Training technical personnel specialized in geotechnics in conjunction with both national and international school and university establishments

    INFRASTRUCTURE

    Our security is also yours
    Modernity
    LABOGENIE and its modern locals

    Equipment
Its equipment of high technology can execute any engineering projects

  • In the laboratory:

    Roads tests
    Soil test, foundations, (trixial)
Construction materials tests (concrete, steel, wood…)

  • On the field:

    Qualified professionals

After several restructurations, LABOGENIE kept more than 100 experienced, skilled and permanent agents:

  • 14 engineers (geo-technicians, geologists, geo-physicians, civil engineers who have an professional experience between 15 to 28 years

  • 70 superior Technicians, technicians and well-trained assistants
