It is located in the city of Galati (Galatz), a strongly industrialized center on the Danube river, 80 miles away from The Black Sea. Beside the Shipyard, the city of Galati is also home to the Research/Designing Institute for Shipbuilding, the Marine Politechnic University, and another two large companies specialized in the manufacturing of marine equipment and non-ferrous, cast-iron/steel-castings, as well as the big Steel Mill Plant for ship-plates.
