works were under process byt the time we published
this book. There are a few sites of cultural Interest
such as the
National Bank of Angola (BNA)

good example of colonial architecture and one of the
symbols of Luanda, it has been inaugurated in 1956
and was conceived by Vasco Regalieira.
Not far from Marginal, the
Palácio de Ferro
was
conceived by Gustave Eiffel in the late 1800’s, It was
brought to Luanda in 1901 after the World Exhibition.
It is currently under works and will host the Diamond
Museum.
Back to the Marginal, nearby Sonangol, the
Igreja
Nossa Senhora da Nazaré

on Praça do Ambiente is another example of colonial
architecture. It is famous for its altar in pink marble.

Largo Irene Cohen,
Nossa Senhora do Carmo
is
worth a visit for its haind painted ceiling.
Almost at the end of the main avenue, before en-

NATURE AND WILDLIFE
Ilha do Cabo de Luanda
was originally an island
and is one of the main touristic attraction due to its
privileged location and the numerous beaches suita-

transform the high-end place to be the window of
Luanda. The island is scattered with trendy estab-

private beaches, it gets particularly over-crowded
during the week-ends.
