The population is divided into Bângalas, Xinge,
Minungos, Luvales, Mbundas and Balubas (mixture
of people from Moxico and Lunda Norte) but is domi-
nated by the Lunda-Tchokwe ethny.
The main activity rely on agriculture and mining that
employs most of the population.
There is also an important handcraft activity, notably
scultures. Strong traditions in dance, folkloric music
and dance remain very strong.
The airport of Saurimo can accommodate small and
medium aircrafts, roads are still under rehabilitation
but access from Luanda is made possible if going
through Malanje.
