Salvador do Congo, when Diogo Cão arrived at the
estuary of Zaire river in 1482, welcomed by the King
Nzinga Mbemba with whom they established good
relations in the slave trading. Slaves were captured
by the Bakongo and sold to the Portuguese, they
were then shipped to Europe, Brazil and São Tomé.
