The Angolan National Diamond Company, Endiama
EP was founded in 1981 and is a public-funded com-
pany. The company has two functions: state and
entrepreneurial. The main objective of Endiama EP
is the mining,prospecting, transformation, polishing,
researching and the commercialization of diamonds.
Endiama EP also extends its activities beyond the
diamond sector.
During the last decade, Endiama EP has structured
itself as an organization with the characteristics of
a holding company, possessing many branches and
participating as a shareholder in other companies.
The operations of Endiama EP are mainly focused on:
prospecting, recognition, research and exploration.
Prospecting, recognition and research: the knowl-
edge of the total amount of mineral resources of
Angola is still limited, currently representing 40%
of the country. Of the 167 projects of which most
are concession areas, 15 prospecting projects are
running in Muanga, Alto Cuilo, Dala, Nhefo, Lunda
Northeast, Cango Cacuala.
Exploration: there are 20 production projects of
which 14 are in activity.
In order to develop Endiama EP as an internation-
ally known brand, the company established a strong
presence in Tel Aviv (Israel), Antwerk (Belgium) and
Hong Kong. In the near future, Endiama EP has in-
tentions to enter the markets of New York, Dubai and
India.

Esso Angola is an affiliate of the world’s largest pub-
licly traded integrated petroleum and natural gas
company, the US-based Exxon Mobil Corporation
(ExxonMobil – NYSE: XOM).
The group operates facilities and market products
globally, and explore for oil and natural gas on six
continents. The company was formed on November
30, 1999, by the merger of Exxon and Mobil. Exx-
onMobil’s headquarters are based in Texas and em-
ploys over 80,000 people in 77 countries.
As a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation, ESSO
Angola has been operating in Angola for 17 years.
The company started in 1994 after being granted the
operatorship of Block 15. The company currently has
interest in 4 deepwater blocks covering more than 3
million gross acres.
The company is allowed to explore about 4,144
km2 of the Atlantic Ocean seabed in Block 15 that
has declared a total of 17 commercial wells with a
recoverable resource potential of about 5 billion oil-
equivalent barrels (gross).
Esso also has interest in:
Block 17, operated by Total, Esso has a 20%
participation. Through the year 2007, they have
announced more than 15 discoveries with a total
resources estimate on nearly 6 billion equivalent
barrels.
Block 31, operated by BP, Esso maintains a 25%
interest on it.
Block 32: 15% interest held by Esso in this block
operated by Total.
Esso Angola is completing the necessary infrastruc-
ture to feed first gas into the Angola Liquified Natural
Plant in Soyo, and progressing with the construction
of the Kizamba Satellites Project that is targeted to
add production in 2012.
Esso’s workforce represent over 750 people, about
two thirds of them are Angolans, including positions
at supervisory and management positions, where
Angolans represent 45% of the total.
Before 2010, Esso sponsored approximately $9 mil-
lion in community investment programs in the areas
of health, education, environment, and agriculture.
