Fibrex is a company established in Angola since 1966.
The company manufactures and markets PVC and
polyethylene pipes and fittings.
DPI Plastics, a South African leader in the same indus-
try, acquired 33% of Fibrex in 2007, offering technologi-
cal support and know how. Plastip andAureos acquired
the balance of the share capital. They added further
value in the form of Angolan business know how and
capital support. This new alliance has allowed Fibrex to
achieve sales in excess of $10 million in 2010.
On the 15th December 2010, Fibrex was awarded an
ISO 9001: 2008 certification from the SABS (South Af-
rican Bureau of Standards), moving the company into
the realms of world class standards. This internation-
ally recognized quality management system ensures
that Fibrex customers always receive excellent quality
product and service.
In order to respond the high demand of the Angolan
market, Fibrex manufacturing operation works a 24
hours day, 7 days a week, producing plastic pipes and
fittings. Fibrex is one of the biggest companies in its
sector in Angola and has tripled its turnover from 2007
to 2010. The company competes mainly with importers
that bring the final product from Europe, China or Brazil.
Fibrex supplies goods and back up service to a wide
range of industrial sectors. These include construc-
tions companies both local and foreign from China,
Brazil, Portugal, or Cuba, civil construction projects,
water reticulation projects and the telecommunica-
tion industry. The agricultural sector is growing rapidly
which presents huge potential.
Strategically, Fibrex will grow its core business, im-
prove production capacity and expand its activity in
new products which complement its core business.
Fibrex is optimistic that large investments in construc-
tion, infrastructure and agricultural areas will be real-
ized. Fibrex has a reputation of forging lasting part-
nership arrangements with suppliers and customers
and is always ready to collaborate with any company
operating in these sectors.
“Growth in Angola is phenomenal and Fibrex is proud
of being a part of it. We aim to continue our participa-
tion in the development of the country.”
