Continental Outdoor Media is now established in An-
gola, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland,
Lesotho, Tanzania, Mauritius, Namibia, Uganda,
Botswana, Malawi and Madagascar, with plans for
further expansion.
As the Angolan economy has been developing
quickly over the past few years, outdoor advertis-
ing has been booming as well. Being the pioneer in
this industry in Angola, Continental Outdoor Media

oil related: telecommunications, banking and brew-

rapidly. Continental Outdoor Media has a well diver-
sified database of local and international clients and
ease their entry on the Angolan market by offering
them great exposure. In fact, outdoor advertising of-
fers many advantages: it targets the mass market,
allows a wide coverage and high frequency and can-
not be “turned-off”.
Continental Outdoor Media wants to position itself
thanks to the quality of the service offered. The com-
petition in this sector is growing in both Luanda and
other provinces but Continental is always in the top
3 and is doing very well: in the end of the second
quarter of 2010, the gross sales increased by 48%
and the production by 65% compared to 2009. The
advertising company has 25 direct employees and
different subcontractors’ specialist to respond to this
intense activity.
Being the market leader is the goal of Continental.
In order to do so, it is stabilizing the geographical
coverage, increasing the services in provinces and
focusing on innovation. For example, in order to
comply with international environment standards,
Continental is working with the local administra-
tions on “Green Policy” by installing electricity tim-
ers and the use of solar energy on its billboards,
practice already in place in other markets where
Continental is present. The speed of execution is
also a great matter; the agency can now wet up a
billboard within 3 days. It benefits from the utilization
of the global system of the whole group as compe-
tencies are shared among the different subsidiar-
ies.
