The mission of MSTelcom is to specialize in global
communications systems, guarantee client satisfac-
tion through understanding their requirements and
fulfilling their needs, whilst constantly investing in
technological and human resources.
It currently provides HUB satellite services (private
satellite connections to voice and data that covers
the entire African continent) giving its clients private
VSAT services, as well as providing Internet and
fixed wireless access based on ADSL (asymmetric
digital subscriber line).
Its network of agents across the country provides the
public with services for telephone and Internet ac-
cess. Its expansion plan is to create similar services
to the ones that already exist in Luanda in the rest
of the country.

In 1981 Protecnica, was the first private company
created after Angola’s independence. It consisted of
three branches dealing with IT, cars and military equip-
ment. In 1991 the company split into three independ-
ent parts, of which one was Sistec. Sistec became
responsible for the computer and office equipment
part. Currently, it is estimated that SISTEC accounts
for about 20% of the country’s computer market.
Today Sistec has numerous branches across Ango-
la. The activity is divided in eight business divisions:

Unitel, S.A is an Angolan company that was consti-
tuted in 1998 as an anonymous society (SA). The
company includes Angolan entrepreneurs and inter-
national investors from Portugal and United Kingdom.
Unitel, S.A is the leading mobile telecommunica-
tions company and was the first operator to provide
GSM services in Angola. In its first year, the opera-
tor launched voice mail and SMS for 250,000 clients.
Currently, Unitel has over 6,5 million customers The
main objective of Unitel is to satisfy its customers by
providing a wide range of products and services, with
policies based in the diversification of its portfolio and
the strengthening of its offerings, from voice and text
message services to third generation services.
The launch of the UMTS technology, which 3G
service is based on, enables Unitel to offer its high-
speed data services such as videocalling and inter-
net access services.
Another service that Unitel, S.A offers is the ex-
tension of its foreign calling (roaming) service for
prepays clients, thus allowing all its customers ac-
cess to the service. Furthermore, the operator has
also reinforced the coverage provided by its current
roaming service, establishing agreements with 260
operators in 116 countries.
Over the past years, Unitel has increased clients and
agents, as well as achieving expansion of the signal
and improved human resources. Unitel believes that
the success of its service is mainly due to its team
of young and excellent workers. The main strengths
of the operator are the quality and innovation of the
services it provides to the market.
