Agriculture
In the Agricultural sector, Acquasolo has been a part-
ner of the Ministry of Agriculture of Angola for many
years, providing various certified seeds and animal
vaccines. In order to develop the agricultural area,
Aquasolo created ‘Vrelo Farm’, established in Cas-
songue in Kwanza Sul. The farm will focus on the
multiplication of the seeds of beans and corn, being
produced within the international standards required
for this type of production and monitored by SENSE
(National Service of Seeds).
In order to achieve its objectives, Acquasolo has in-
vested heavily in warehouses, machinery, irrigation,
cleaning equipment and other essential infrastruc-
ture.
In the real estate, hospitality and tourism sector,
Aquasolo has constructed and managed a “Resort”
that has a pool and is surrounded by a green area.
The activities of Aquasolo are based on 4 structural
pillars:
Ensuring the quality of the services provided
Providing efficiency in response to the request of
the customers
Focusing on innovation of products and services
aimed at customer satisfaction
Valuing its employees.

Empresa de Terras Aráveis (Gesterra) is a company
set up by the Council of Ministers in 2006 and run
by the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural
Development with the aim of ensuring access to food
products at competitive prices and promoting rural
and agri-livestock development in Angola.
The mission of Gesterra is to reduce poverty and
eradicating hunger by creating a massive production
chain. This chain, in turn, will help reduce Angola’s
reliance on imports and increase self-sufficiency.
Gesterra also helps Angolans return to their home-
lands through various incentive program.
Since 2006, Gesterra has made massive inroads in
its mission of creating commercial agriculture facili-
ties that will lead in the short term to self-sufficiency
and in the long term, to export. In total, eighteen ag-
ricultural projects, costing around US$800 million,
are being carried out by the company, in the Angolan
provinces of Malanje, Kuando Kubango, Benguela,
Bié, Zaire, Cunene, Uíge and Moxico.
Fazenda Pungo Andongo, developed in 2006, is
Gesterra’s main project. The fazenda focuses on the
production of soy, rice and grains. Currently, Pungo
Andongo has 33.000 hectares and boasts an annual
corn production of 18.000 tons. The organization’s
goal is to increase production from 400kg per hec-
tare to 4000kg, thus resulting in excess production
available for exporting.
In addition, Gesterra is developing another 9000
hectare agriculture and cattle breeding farm in Ben-
go province, called Rio Loge. 10 tons of cereals per
hectare on the farm’s irrigated fields are expected
to be produced, in addition to corn, potatoes, beans
and bananas.
In order for Angola to rapidly develop its domestic
production in the short term, Gesterra has estab-
lished technological partnerships with various coun-
tries.
The company plans by 2013 to achieve production
of around 315,000 tons of grains, to create 4,000 di-
rect jobs, stimulate growth of livestock production in
Angola, expand agri-industry in rural areas and con-
tribute to the country’s food self-sufficiency.
