Activity: Container Terminal
Date of Creation: 2003
SOGESTER (Sociedade Gestora de Terminais,
S.A.) was founded in 2003 as a result of a partner-
ship between APM Terminals and Gestão de Fundos
(an Angolan company). In 2007, SOGESTER took
over the control of the container terminal operations
and management in the Port of Luanda.
The main activity of Sogester S.A consists of the
management and operation of containers of the Port
of Luanda of Terminal II. By doing this, the company
is actively involved in the development of the infra-
structure required to link the Port of Luanda to other
countries and markets and thereby facilitating the
access to new markets and opportunities.
Soon, the terminal of Sogester S.A will be renovated,
which includes the construction of new pavement
and premises, as well as the introduction of a new
operational method.
Furthermore, the container storage capacity was in-
creased with the introduction of new cargo handling
equipment, in order to optimize efficiency and pro-
ductivity. This new handling equipment enabled the
company to increase the terminal storage density in
order to incorporate the expected growth in terms of
container volume.
Safety is of high importance and is applied in every
act carried out by the company. One of the main ob-
jectives of the Sogester S.A is to increase the level of
awareness when it comes to safety and to make it as
a top priority. To emphasize this aspect, the slogan of
Sogester S.A is ”Safety for Life”.
