All nationalities must get a visa prior to arrival. It is
not possible to obtain a visa upon arrival. Your pass-
port must be valid for another six months minimum
and contain two blank pages. You can only obtain a
visa in advance from the Angolan Embassy or Con-
sulate in the country of your residence.
The following items are basic requirements when ap-
plying for a visa to enter Angola:
Filled in original application form
International passports valid for at least six months
and with two blank pages
Four recent passport photographs
Return ticket or itinerary
A letter of invitation from Angola
Company letter from you requesting the visa
ORDINARY VISA
Ordinary visas are delivered for stays not exceeding
one month and normally take up to 8 working days
to process. However, It is possible to renew an Or-
dinary Visa twice.
To renew your visa you must go to the Angolan Di-
rection for Immigration and Customs (DEFA) in Lu-
anda, purchase a prorogation form and provide them
with your passport, copy of your passport and visa
and two pictures. In addition, since July 2011 some
foreigners have been asked for their fingerprints
and signature. In theory, your visa extension will be
granted within a week.

golan company (sent directly to the embassy of
Angola in the country)
Company or personal letter (original and two copies)
Three copies of contract (translated into Portu-
guese)
Three curriculum vitae certificates (three copies
translated into Portuguese)
Written undertaking to comply with Angolan laws
Criminal record (original and two copies translated
into Portuguese and authenticated by the Foreign
Office and to be stamped by the consulate)
Medical records (original and two copies, authenti-
cated by the Foreign Office and to be stamped by
the consulate)
Immunization card
Return ticket or itinerary
Note: as requirements tend to change and vary from
a country to another, and depending on the type of
visa you are applying for, we strongly advise you con-
tact your nearest Angolan mission for all entry require-
ments. Please refer to the end of this chapter for the
listings of the Angolan Embassies abroad.
You will be fined 150 US dollars per day if you over-
stay your visa. You will be fined either on discovery or
at the airport. You will not be permitted to leave the
country until your fine has been paid.
