Founding of hansabank Group

Hansabank Group consists of three banks in each Baltic state: in Estonia (Hansabank), in Latvia (Hansabanka) and in Lithuania (Hansabankas). The concern has approximately 900,000 private clients and 50,000 business clients.

Hansabank Group's founding history

June 1991

Hansabank in Estonia was established as an affiliate of the local bank Tartu Kommertspank

January 1992

Hansabank started independent operations in Estonia

August 1994

first international share issue was held
June 1996

100% of Deutsche Lettische Bank (currently Hansabanka in Latvia) was purchased

July 1998

Estonian Savings Bank was merged with Hansabank

Autumn 1998

Swedbank became Hansabank's strategic owner (current holding 52,64%)

July 1999

Hansabankas in Lithuania was established
