Tian Belawati received her education in agricultural economics. Later on she moved from this field to pursue her education in distance learning and during her PhD studies she stayed in Canada. Influenced by Canadian education she returned to Indonesia and joined Universitas Terbuka (Indonesia Open University) and never left it until today where she occupies the position of rector.
