Could you give us a brief historical background and your experience as photojournalist?

I started doing photojournalism in 1975. I worked for the Ministry of Information as trainee. Then I became a photo editor from 1981 to 1986,for the nation’s first independent newspaper the Daily Observer before going to London where I stayed 2 years working for Africa Now magazine.

I came back to Liberia and the war started. During that period the situation was very difficult and I worked as Director of photography and columnist for the Daily Observer “Candid Camera” until November 2009.
