The Immigration Headquarters, upon submission
of the following documents, may issue employment
permits:
• Certified copy of the applicant’s highest education
status, any other additional qualifications and cer-
tificate of employment from previous employers
• Letterhead from the prospective employer ex-
plaining steps taken to employ Zambian citizens
to fill the vacancy
The fees relating to work permits in the private sector
are indicated below:

The Act is considered the basic employment law,
and it provides for the basic employment contractual
terms such as:
• Minimum contractual age
• Establishment of emplo\ment contracts
• Settlement of disputes arising from such emplo\-
ment contracts
• $ppointment of /abour 2fficers and other staff for
the administration of the Act
• Certain conditions of emplo\ment such as ordinar\
leave, sick leave, maternity, redundancy, and welfare
of employees

The ZFE is an organization for employers that ar-
ticulates their particular interests. ZFE has a pres-
ence at the Tripartite Labour Consultative Council,

This act sets the 80 minimum conditions of employ-
ment for employees not effectively covered through
collective bargaining. Such employees include gen-
eral workers, drivers, and clerks.

The Immigration Headquarters is responsible for
issuing Self-Employment Permits to deserving for-
eign investors. The following documents are neces-
sary to complete the application:
• Two passport si]ed photos

• 9alid cop\ of the compan\’s certificate of incor-
poration
• Cop\ of the ,nvestment Certificate issued b\ the
Zambia Development Agency.
